Why put "murdering" in quotes? Regardless of what those people were using the boat for, they got murdered in cold blood. In a civilized society, people would have a right to a trial if they are accused of anything.

I think everyone here gets the logic of the fascists in charge - my question was to OP - as someone posting here on lemmy, we might as well use the proper words.
I mean. Yeah...
That's clearly what it was, because instead of pressing charges on recent survivors, they're sending them back home. That's why theyre bombing them in the first place instead of arresting them and trying to get them to flip, there's no one for them to flip on, because they're not drug smugglers.
They didn't want it to come out in a trial in America, so now Columbia will likely try to bring it thru international courts.
Even if they were drug smugglers, under what law does the USA have the right to kill them? If someone smuggles heroin from Hong Kong to the UK will Americans murder them?

I think the likeliest answer is we have men with the emotional intelligence of 13 year olds running this show, they have big toys they can play with, and they did just that.
