This is horrific to me. Reminds me of when I saw a reporter putting together something in Photoshop, then taking a screenshot to paste it into Adobe Premiere. I showed her how to send it properly for better quality, and really just as fast, but saw her doing it again just a few weeks later. She just grinned when I asked about it!

It feels like the digital version of the shopping cart theory, some people just don’t care

I do this for memes and shitposts, but anything important I definitely will export

In Linux we just touch our screenshots

Speedrunning generational loss with this one easy trick

This is why "manual sort" is so good.

I want all of files in alphabetical order except that one, please.

This is literally a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot

I think that's at least part of the joke

What does bringing it to the front mean in this context? If I've already located the photo I want, I can usually do what I need with it. The problem is finding it to start with.

I do this with my WiFi password. Since all the photos and screenshots are in recency order, instead of having to scroll all the way back to several months ago when I first took a picture of the WiFi password all the time, I take a screenshot of that photo and since the screenshot it recent it now shows up at the front and I don't have to scroll to find it.

I'm assuming it's an apple thing, where it's stupidly difficult to get the image/file you want into the application that you want to work with it

or at least that's my experience as a non-apple user trying to use my goddamn iPad

Nah, I do it on my (android) phone. Usual case is that I see something browsing on mobile that I want to research more of on my proper desktop. So I take a quick screenshot so that I remember when I get home. Then I dont remember. Then I screenshot the screenshot the next time I'm scrolling through my gallery so that I remember. Then I dont remember...

So the screenshot is a reminder because when you're scrolling through recent photos you might happen to see it? Isn't that kind of like setting an alarm clock that will only go off 50% of the time?

Fuck no! This is like infinitely worse than anything the nightmare users I know do.
