General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

So you were ok with Nazis, pedophiles, murderers and Zionist settlers, but you have to draw the line at musicians.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 39 points 2 days ago

But these musicians objected to a genocide, which obviously makes them terrorists.

It's a business: They want to avoid controversy and this musician is controversial.

Sucks, because he is probably right or at least not wrong in his views, but this is the society we've all built together.

Speaking truth to power was always a revolutionary act. Seems like we're going back to the old days.

The airline has withdrawn its adverts from the journalist’s podcast after he interviewed Bobby Vylan – whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster.

On it, Vylan said he was “not regretful” of leading chants of “death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]” during a performance at the Glastonbury festival this summer. He said he would “do it again tomorrow”.

British Airways outs themselves as pro-genocide and anti freedom of expression.

Have you ever flown with them. They ousted themselves as shitty already. They look good in comparison to Ryanair but that's it.

Do you think it's had a major financial impact on him? He's a internationally known journalist I doubt he needs the money.

A bit of a weird move from British airways anyway, why would they care who he interviews, it's not like he's endorsing that person. Also the general public actually support Bob Dylan's stance , so again, kind of a ill thought out gesture.

British airways PR team aren't giving it their all it would seem.

Bob Dylan's stance is not the same as Bob Vylan's, I'd wager.

Clearly British Airways just wants to establish its brand as a pro-genocide corporation which endorses shooting, bombing and starving innocent people.

Did it get a bit close to the bone for them?
