Don't remember ever being excited about watching baseball before, let alone doggedly staying up way too late to finish a game. Any other bandwagoners feeling a little tuckered today?

Why does every American sport mostly consist of waiting for players to get set up?

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 14 points 1 day ago

More time for consumerism!

As opposed to waiting for players to feign injury?

This is Canada, we watch Hockey and Rugby. They aren’t flopping like basketball players.

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lacrosse is a nice watch too

Yeah curling and Aussie rules too.

Assuming this is about soccer...

Even with teams that have players that are notoriously bad at this, the total time the game waits on those is like 5 minutes

You know, if there's something other than ads or my feet to watch while waiting, I'll take it.

I made it to the 16th inning trying real hard to make it to the end then woke up on the couch wondering what happened.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I imagine that happened to more than a few folks. I'm lucky enough to be on the west coast so besides the 7 hours worth of beers, wasn't tooooooooo ridiculous.

How many beers are seven hours worth of them?

Well that's hardly an answer.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wasn't much of a question, thought you were making a joke.

I think the last time I counted drinks was before Obama got elected.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I obsessively count everything I consume so that's part of the reason I can't eat rice.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Unsure if you're joking or are a very traditional vampire.

I don't really follow baseball at all, and haven't watched any of the playoffs to date. But I did watch this.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Doozy of a first game! How many people choose a record setting game as the ONE they choose to watch?

Yeah, I lucked out in having nothing better to do at the time. I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch all of the rest of the series, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it!

What a game! I think we got lucky that Yamamoto couldn't stretch out, that dude has been haunting my nightmares.

Not a regular sports watcher and loving this series, simply incredible baseball out of both teams, every single batter seems to be a threat and the battle of the blue-collar pitchers is wild, such a managers' series.

In other great sports for non-watchers: The Vancouver Whitecaps are in the semis, they have been a blast to watch and are playing great scrappy soccer.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Oh heck, I completely forgot about the Whitecaps and I play soccer in Vancouver! That's a lil awkward.

But yeah, it's (in my limited frame of reference) been a blast of a series. I thought the Mariners series was too good to beat but this has been just as great!

I wonder how deflated the boys are going to be tonight. I'm hoping we get at least one more game at home.

They sure won their salary last night that's for sure...
