According to my history:
Depths of Wikipedia > Cow Tipping > Achlis > Hugag
I expected this thing to be some kind of folkloric metaphor for something but apparently it's more likely some bored guys were like "wouldn't it be weird if a moose-like creature existed that couldn't lay down or eat grass??"
Arose from people misinterpreting unguligrade/digitigrade animals as having no knees, then people pointed out they do, so some guy was like but what if they didn't?? Dunno where the lips came from, maybe just a parallel of not being able to eat normally to go along with not being able to walk normally
being an American I was low key worried the lip thing was something racist
