any forum with threaded display styled mode problem

[–] A2PKXG@feddit.de 25 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Does/ did reddit have a limit like this?

[–] Krudler@lemmy.world 57 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (3 children)

At one time it was discovered that there was no nesting limit.

And of course that caused people to start the "bottles of beer thread".

We got something like ~~2,000 or 3,000~~ 1,300 into it before literal devs came into the thread and begged us to stop "you are breaking Reddit".

That resulted in the thread being shut down and nesting limits implemented. What those limits are, I do not know. I just know at one time they didn't exist.

~~They got to nearly 10 million?!?~~

Ok I read the comments wrong lol still that's crazy

[–] ninchuka@lemmy.one 9 points 2 years ago

I love how literal devs had to come in and ask them to stop lmao

I went back and forth with someone on Reddit for months on a single thread just saying bonk. That thread was long as fuck is all I know

Failure of zero, one, infinity.

[–] anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Any programmer knows that the smallest value of infinity is 256.
