@beepnoise Sure, it can interact with many other platforms :)
Fediverse
This magazine is dedicated to discussions on the federated social networking ecosystem, which includes decentralized and open-source social media platforms. Whether you are a user, developer, or simply interested in the concept of decentralized social media, this is the place for you. Here you can share your knowledge, ask questions, and engage in discussions on topics such as the benefits and challenges of decentralized social media, new and existing federated platforms, and more. From the latest developments and trends to ethical considerations and the future of federated social media, this category covers a wide range of topics related to the Fediverse.
Also, the majority of what you see on the microblog are actually Mastodon posts. Hold your mouse cursor over a username for a moment, and you will see a popup with the original instance.
@beepnoise
You will be shown all boards that are currently known in the Fediverse and already existed before kbin. This means that you can access a history that goes back to 2010.
The decisive factor is how well your instance is networked with the rest of the Fediverse. It always shows the board and posts if there has already been contact between the different servers.
Examples:
- #fedibikes is a group on Friendica: kbin.social/m/fedibikes@soc.sc…
- #Homecooking is a group on chirp: kbin.social/m/Homecooking@chir…
some of which have existed for several years. You can use them from kbin, just like a Friendica account can subscribe to all lemmy and kbin groups.
