Oh, I didn't realise kbin had its own little mastodon like thing. Very cool, kbin!

Does it interact with other instances like mastodon, calckey, etc?

Also, the majority of what you see on the microblog are actually Mastodon posts. Hold your mouse cursor over a username for a moment, and you will see a popup with the original instance.

You will be shown all boards that are currently known in the Fediverse and already existed before kbin. This means that you can access a history that goes back to 2010.

The decisive factor is how well your instance is networked with the rest of the Fediverse. It always shows the board and posts if there has already been contact between the different servers.

Examples:

some of which have existed for several years. You can use them from kbin, just like a Friendica account can subscribe to all lemmy and kbin groups.
