This is a small website, it probably can’t handle all the Reddit users migrating. How much can it take before shutting down?

I’m honestly surprised how much the fediverse has grown in the past 3 months. Reddit fucking up is the push it needed.

Federated. Each server hosting its own instance has a different limit. I’d presume the instance mods would stop allowing new members if their servers got overstrained.

Talking about different instances, are you able to read this comment I'm making to you?

[–] DelusionalAI@lemmy.fmhy.ml 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes you should be able to comment on any community no matter where your β€œhome” is (as long as that community/instance doesn’t have any special rules)

Beehaw has burggit blocked. I don't think @setsneedtofeed@beehaw.org can see my comments.

@setsneedtofeed@beehaw.org can you see the comment I'm replying to?

Edit: okay, why is my tag messed up?

[–] goat@burggit.moe 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They shouldn't be able to see yours either since you're replying to mine.

[–] CheshireSnake@lemmy.one 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh. That's useful to know!

[–] goat@burggit.moe 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, it means we can have a secret conversation about how much @setsneedtofeed@beehaw.org SUCKS (jk), and they won't ever know, but non-beehaw users will be able to see our talk.

Imagine if someone made an allegation, like, "oh aren't you that user who pooped themselves?", just to see them not acknowledge it.

That's why I don't join instances that block others. I wanna see everything! 3:

LMFAO

This is honestly what I thought of. There's a post somewhere to see which instances block which. I'm gonna have to find it and check.

You can always click on instances at the bottom your instance page. It has the full list.

Lemmy is not one single website, it's a federation. Every instance can help share the load, and new instances can be started if needed.
