That was only 9 years ago? Maybe I'm not that old.

[–] FermatsLastAccount@kbin.social 44 points 2 years ago

Right? I would have guessed closer to 15.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 19 points 2 years ago

Yeah why does it always usually feel the other way around (XYZ thing happened 15 years ago?? I thought that was last year!) but for this one I had the same reaction as you, "only 9 years?".

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

Obama was still president. How's the age now? I feel like it's been an eternity. Not a limbo type of thing, but more of a "Different Strokes" theme keeps playing but skips right back to the beginning before hitting the chorus...for so many years...

[–] Deadeyegai@lemmy.world 71 points 2 years ago (2 children)

All while showcasing his own from the opposite angle. I believe he got banned as a result but not sure if it ever was rescinded or just expired. Classic either way

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 23 points 2 years ago

Expired if I remember right.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 11 points 2 years ago

Yes, he got banned for a year or something.

[–] Blastoid5000@lemmy.world 65 points 2 years ago (2 children)

An IT professor just told me he had to go over basic hygiene with his class. Sometimes stereotypes exist because they're true.

[–] telllos@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

It's funny, I visited a technologie University the otherday. It was open to the public. Two student were talking about a 3rd one. Saying the guy didn't wash and spent his time studying.

The fucking prayer hands 🙏 🤣

[–] half_built_pyramids@lemmy.world 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Didn't he get banned or something too?

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 13 points 2 years ago

Yes. For a year or so.

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 31 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Died the first time I saw this. I wish he'd kept up his hobby. It's hilarious.

[–] Tilgare@lemmy.world 34 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He got banned after posting, iirc.

[–] HankMardukas@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago (8 children)

It was a pretty serious ban too. 18 months

The aroma of stale cheap pizza, days old sweat, and poop.

[–] nobodyspecial@kbin.social 20 points 2 years ago

I never realized how important MtG was to the plumber community.

[–] buycurious@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

The one where he’s teary eyed is outstanding

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why have I never noticed that he has gas station pumps tattooed on his knuckles lmao

[–] Quexotic@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They're letters. Not sure which ones, but definitely letters. Just a weird font. I definitely see what you're saying though.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Alright yes those are definitely letters now that I zoomed in but here's what I'm talking about for those that don't see it

[–] hazeebabee@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 years ago

110% i can see the gas pump, especially with the pointer finger.

9 years?!... Damn, I'm getting old.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know right? Once you hit 10, you might start seeing some new hairs...

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 years ago

I have been in hundreds of packed rooms before, but I have never experienced a packed room that smells as bad as a room packed with MTG fans.

[–] GoronKing@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

One of the greatest memes of all time.

[–] vynlwombat@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Fucking legend

So is lemmy just geriatric millennials reliving their reddit heyday?

[–] itsnicodegallo@lemm.ee 77 points 2 years ago (5 children)

The community is called c/antiquememesroadshow, so that's kinda the point there.

I see Reddit's toxicity is leaking into lemmy.

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 30 points 2 years ago

You are in antiquememes sooo...yes?

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.world 26 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

In the sense that we are trying to get back to a time when our platform of choice wasn't a cesspool, yes.

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 20 points 2 years ago

I mean, in this specific community? Yeah... Just look at the name.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (4 children)

We are just regular millennials. Oldest millennials are in their 40s.

I knew what I was going to see and I clicked through anyway. Why did I do that? Why did I keep on clicking past the 18+ filter?

Obligatory "I remember when that was first posted" comment.
