What a f*cking stupid thing to say, get back to work you underachiever lol

(..Is /s needed? I'm afraid of the other mentally ill people here)

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The thing about /s is that it can never hurt. It’s why we do science on “obvious” things; confirmation and clarity is always valuable.

Oddly enough the “lol” actually introduces the biggest doubt to me. It taints the commitment to the satire somewhat.

[–] mossy_@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (8 children)

/s can never hurt, but there will always be someone saying "I hate sarcasm tags because they're for stupid people" and that can hurt

[–] flerp@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

Just remember that those are the stupid people because they don't understand that sarcasm isn't only about the reader but also the writer. Some people's sarcasm is much clearer than others and for the one's whose sarcasm isn't is heavily noticeable, the /s helps.

Also, whining about non-harmful stuff that people do that isn't what you would do instead of just living your life doing what makes you happy is generally pretty stupid anyways.

Sometimes if I think part of my comment isn’t clearly sarcastic enough I’ll go full html.

Like this:

Donald Trump is soooooo handsome

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's... beyond sarcasm. Hey, are you harassing us!?

/s btw :-P

What is even going on right now!? :-D

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would neeeeeeveerrrrr harass youuuuuu

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 1 points 1 year ago

(works in Always Has Been meme... though I am not sure how, nor much clue really even why!?:-P)

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The /s is absolutely needed - and even then, sadly it does not always help:-P.

[–] dogsnest@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Instructions unclear, tempted to downvote to give me clarity.

..,

....

/s

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 4 points 1 year ago

As requested: WISDOM!

[–] dogsnest@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I find "/s" has become mandatory, else you get reddited to oblivion.

erm..../s

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 3 points 1 year ago

Not /s - genuine:-(

[–] Hugh_Jeggs@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

/s is not needed outside the US. In the UK and Oz, sarcasm is assumed until proven otherwise

[–] h3mlocke@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Hugh_Jeggs@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, I don't watch too much TV so it means something different

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Don't worry, I'll always take your words ironically.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh, I'm a part of the problem.

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Yay, we’re part of something!

[–] mozz@mbin.grits.dev 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Parasocial is better than no social at all

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

Debatable, honestly.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Everyone should join some of the art and literature communities here on Lemmy and scroll something creative instead of news.

[–] Kiosade@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

They barely seem to show up under “All”. It’s mostly doom and gloom bullshit news

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Follow me around Lemmy, I sprinkle poetry and stories all over!

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Have you considered lowering the amount of doom and/or gloom that occurs IRL?

[–] macrocarpa@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Aw thank you, I feel seen.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Go find some boobies or if you prefer some sausage and let out all the stress.

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And what if you like both but just can't seem to choose?

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Infinite diversity through infinite combination is a rule 34 specialty. You absolutely can find some chick with big boobs sporting tree trunk betwicks their nethers.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

We're all sick in the head considering the inequities we tolerate.

Me too, thanks

[–] Assman@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (5 children)

The death penalty is good. Thoughts?

[–] BugleFingers@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, I do have those on occasion.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

It has been proven to not work as a deterrent and innocent people have been put to death. Pass.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

shocking to me that there's no band called Def Penalty

[–] poplargrove@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

wow thanks for new community intro!

[–] Addv4@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I disagree. The death penalty is bad.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Fuck the "justice " system. No fucking way I would trust them to find the right person.

[–] Crumbgrabber@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, since you asked.......

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Don’t leave us hanging, we want to know all your mentally ill thoughts

[–] chester22@api.clubsall.com 5 points 1 year ago

The need to be so online and updated is parasitic but has been so ingrained in me. I'd like to see a trend of being more offline and out-of-sight but that's also quite ironic.

[–] MeDuViNoX@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

I should probably just make this my phone's home background as a constant reminder.
