We have a little free library out front and someone ding dong dashed this + a bag of books at our house this afternoon. Have to imagine it’s a teen who’s parent saw how many books were on the shelf and doesn’t realize I have a whole bookcase in the garage full of stuff to rotate in that I never have space for haha

I actually don’t think that needs to be the case.

I’d feel bad too if something like that happened to me (and I could have easily forgotten something like that). I’d probably say that in person but I could imagine something like that too (although I’d phrase that differently).

Maybe, but who hurt you? It's painful to have such a cynical response.

Aww I get it Max! Even if it was a parent (good parenting though, be responsible with what you take and don't take more than you need) I know I'd personally feel guilty about holding onto too many too long.

Maybe you can put a sign on the library that says something like, these books are here for a short visit or their next forever home. Enjoy!

Or it doesn't have to be cute but I like cute cuz little libraries are.

I thought it was kinda like the bookshelf in a hostel. You try to drop-off a book you’ve finished, and take a book you haven’t read.

Same. I don’t think I’ve ever returned a book, though I’ve taken a few. I’ve added some, too, but I don’t think it’s ever occurred me to return one to the same place I took it from.

Yeah that’s how I’ve understood it. I think “library” may confuse a few people. “Little Book Exchange” doesn’t have as good a ring as “Little Library” haha

Nah, keep them and maybe bring some other books to share!

I've wondered what about just putting a whole bookshelf outside. Just need some rain protection.

Like repurpose an old bus stop or something similar. Not-So-Little Library!

This could only be better if Max was a chipmunk.
