What the hell are you talking about? That's clearly a zebra.

[–] BleatingZombie@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

It looks more like a giraffe with a very short neck

A fed wild animal is a dead wild animal

[–] Peter1986C@lemmings.world 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I suspect the one on the photo lives in captivity.

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not captivity, we have around 40 hectares. But no predators and we have to feed in winter anyway.

[–] Peter1986C@lemmings.world 3 points 3 months ago

Sorry, I meant "not in the wild". "Captivity" might not have been the best word to pick (second language).

Don't spoil the apples, feed them to the wildlife!

Without the photo this sounds like the opening line to a very creepy story

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

What is it and can you pet it?

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

Can’t really pet them, they (these ones, anyway) are quite docile but can be dangerous if you’re not careful. They’re very strong, and to be honest not really good to pet because the hair is coarse and hard.

A nyala, according to other comments and as confirmed by Wikipedia.

if you leave some apples on the ground for a bit and let them get slightly rotten, the deer will get a little tipsy off the fermented alcohol. used to live on a property with a big apple tree that would get a ton of fermented apples all around it and when the deer found them they'd be leaping around, drunk off their furry asses lol
