For a second I thought the pictures were a before and after, and was like "well they did a good job at least"

Then I realized πŸ’€

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 56 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The only thing he didn't try, weight loss.

[–] Tar_alcaran@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Because that one takes effort

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 46 points 2 years ago (5 children)

I can’t tell who is David Beckham, mostly because I don’t know who that is.

[–] Steeve@lemmy.ca 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's a husband of one of the Spice Girls

[–] Trippin@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago

Doesn't that guy run some kind of energy drink ad campaign?

[–] Deceptichum@kbin.social 16 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I’m not a sports person but even I know he was one of the biggest soccer players and most famous athletes in the world.

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I don't really care for football either, but the name rings a bell. Isn't he the guy who had the really funny and innacurate bronze statue made in his questionable honour?

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

You're not wrong btw. Ronaldo and Beckham both had shitty bronze statues done. But Beckham's was a prank played on him, inspired by Ronaldo's statue.

[–] BastianAI@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

No, that's Ronaldo. Around 20 years ago Beckham was one of the most famous people in the world

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah, there's literally a movie about worshipping his athletic prowess.

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Aah. Well see then I know at least three footballers - Zlatan Ibrahimovic was really big here in Sweden.

If his heyday was 20 years ago it's no wonder I don't know much about him. I was like 9, and lived out in the middle of nowhere. I had no friends, so I spent my days reading books and plonking away in QBASIC on my old Windows 98 machine. There was a lot of Populous 3, RollerCoaster Tycoon, and The Sims involved as well.

[–] BastianAI@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Then we're of the same age. On my 9th birthday all the boys had "the beckham haircut". It makes sense that you managed to not know of him if you lived in the middle of nowhere, I can promise you that if you had lived in a city you wouldn't have had a chance of not knowing who he is.

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

I don't know either but common sense tells me the guy on the left ain't him

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's the guy who bends it.

[–] troybot@midwest.social 17 points 2 years ago

I am Beckham. Please insert girder.

[–] Z3k3@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I think you just described me from every post in celebs

Edit stupid autocorrect and tired

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I'm like this too. Like I know a few whose works I really enjoy (like Bette Midler), and then I know the names of others but I couldn't point them out in a crowd. I've heard the name David Beckham before, and I know he's some football guy, but I don't really know more than that.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 40 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What did he spend 20k on? The haircut?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago

It certainly wasn't a personal trainer.

David ~~Beck~~Ham

He also kinda looks like he got the TPUSA meme treatment where they shop the face to be too small for the head

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Only some of them. Dude genuinely has a tiny face.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

Maybe he has prosopagnosia and didn't realise the photos he supplied surgeons were of David Beckham and Steven Seagal.

[–] Swim@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Management would like you to tell the difference between between these 2 photos

[–] my_legs_still_hurt92@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Swim@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

That's right !

[–] Art3sian@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (3 children)

If you think he looks like a numpty, wait unit you hear him. Dude is lost in space.

[–] Astroturfed@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's even fatter than I thought. He could get a lot closer and actually save money by eating less food....

[–] aeternum@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

yeah, but like maybe he's at his set point /s

[–] aeternum@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago

holy shit, it's uncanny!

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 0 points 2 years ago

Yes the whiny Essex accent is so goddamn sexy.

[–] doublejay1999@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

another 90 grand should do it. Less than that on the back streets of Sao Paulo.

[–] angrymouse@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

SΓ£o Paulo? I though Instabul and Praga were the points.

[–] doublejay1999@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know a guy too. He'll get your engine clean as a whistle in thirty minutes or your pizza's free. Best mechanic I ever had. I think he mows lawns now.
