JEEP: Just Empty Every Pocket

Really? I've been seeing articles about how chatgpt is insecure garbage for a couple years now.

Nothing to worry about unless you've signed a contract with someone. Normally when you sign with a record label you're selling them the rights to your music, so they could sue you if you try to give it away or sell it without them being involved. Record labels are known to be pretty predatory...

People who were/are upset about singular they really don't understand that language change is pervasive and unstoppable.

What do you mean by this, exactly? As someone who is deeply "engrained" (?) in the field of linguistics, surely you must be aware that singular "they" has been in usage since the 14th century.

This one is a buzzword.

What portion of our zinc production goes to manufacturing pennies?

In case anyone missed it, I found this comment interesting (from the blog, not Lemmy):

Brian you can also find this Finn Grimpe character has a court case under his company ‘HostPlanet’ from 2016. Looking into this more, it was known since then that he was the owner.

He was likely turned and made it into a honeypot ever since considering he and florian (aka “Jason”) have not been arrested and only a single admin was.

Squids are carnivores, and you're an anthromorphic squid. I can see why a vegan would be upset.

Sorry, I realized I misread your earlier post. I missed the word "trying," and it sounded like your were saying the device might not be connected to the internet even though it's successfully pinging a server.

[–] Ajen@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

No, it doesn't depend on the router. The device can either send traffic to other devices on the internet or it can't. If the device can ping something on the internet, then it is connected to the internet. It's a tautology.

The only way some IT guy can notice it pinging the outside world is if it's connected to the internet.

Thanks, I honestly want expecting that kind of a response.

I'm sure there are some who voted out of protest, but only someone who identifies as a Democrat/leftist would vote for Trump out off protest.

Another reason I've heard is that Trump doesn't try to hide his bad side. Democrat (read: neoliberal) policies tend to favor corporations over individuals, and homeowners over renters. Guess which race is more likely to own home and have a stock portfolio?

Hey everyone, I'm new to photography and wondering how much people spend on lenses compared to the camera body they're mounted on? Does it make sense to buy a higher end lens for a mid range camera, or would you be better off getting a slightly cheaper lens and spending some of the money on a nicer camera? Mainly wondering about used gear...

Currently shooting with my SO's D3500 when she isn't using it, and thinking of buying my own. Considering a used Pentax since weather resistant lenses seem easier to find for them than other brands...

Edit: how practical is it to use a Pentax lens on a Nikon with an adapter, and vice versa? I assume the electronics like AF and VR won't work?

I'm printing with PLA on a "PEO" print bed (really a textured PEI), on my heavily modified ender 3, and there's a pattern on the bottom of my first layer that I'm trying to get rid of. The top of the first layer looks fine, and changing the z offset in either direction doesn't help. I've also tried slowing down the print speed because I thought the extruder might be skipping, but I'm still seeing it at 10mm/s. Any idea what could be causing it, and how to get rid of it?

Edit: the first layer went down from the bottom left to the top right, but the pattern I'm seeing is perpendicular to the extruder path
