Have you paid attention to whats coming out of western countries? They've doubled and tripled down on oil in America and Europe still has its pathetic addiction to Russian gas. Oil still rules west of the Urals, green energy transition is nowhere to be found. I've been hearing "Europe will wean itself off Russian gas this year" for over 3 years now, likely will not happen as long as Arab countries keep the price of oil at basement prices, at Israel's gunpoint.

Mainstream media has lost all its credibility. It had been hemorrhaging for at least a decade, but the Gaza genocide was the last blow. Even my boomer mom is sick of American broadcast TV news and calls it propaganda.

In short, it's just because of oil. And American interests, which is a longer way of saying oil. I don't support forcing our values onto other countries, at least to a certain extent. The NDP definitely lost its way under Singh and became blinkered by identity politics. But I have hope that they can be rejuvenated with a strong economic populist and leftist message for the next election.

No they aren't, blanket tariffs the way Trump is doing it is stupid, but counter-tariffs on American products that can be replaced with made-in-Canada products works and helps keep jobs in Canada.

True, it's like a hostage situation. Conservatives threaten to harm trans kids, or immigrants or whatever, and Liberals say "you'll have the vote for us if you want $(minority group) to live, but don't worry, you can vote your conscience next election", then never do anything to actually protect those minority groups in law, so the cycle repeats next election.
