YouTube is not a 'single thing'. If you don't understand the buy European movement works or the privacy issues behind the bigtechs, then that's on you.

Because people like her aren't using the alternatives that they are claiming to promote.

There are other alternatives with plenty of content.

This person earning money by using the buy European platform is akin to Greenwashing, as mentioned for buy European. As for purity-testing, how many "influencers" is too many for something like this? What are they influencing mostly, the usage of YouTube to make money or the fact that they don't use the alternatives that they are supposedly promoting? I've not checked, but does this influencer have any accounts on the European alternatives? Social media or video hosting sites? If not, then this is self promotion more than promoting the movement, or whatever you choose to call it.

Why doesn't she start the video pointing to the alternative video sites that the video is also posted on, and save some viewers from the privacy issues that come with the big tech sites?

I've no problem with letting people watch what they like, but as she's obviously getting paid by YouTube as an influencer, I'm pretty sure this is just the 'buy European' version of Greenwashing.

I don't disagree, but literally looking for followers on one of the biggest platforms owned by one of the 'bigtech' biggest tech, as an "influencer" kinda defeats the whole purpose. Also, she's not 'starting a movement'.

Relying on people to go to YouTube to watch the video that more than likely just points at things already written and linked to on the sites that have already gained a massive following without YouTube is not unnecessary, but it is unneeded.

Using Google's YouTube to do it. Requires their viewers all to watch YouTube... 🤕🙄

Ireland mustn't count (small) Their stats only go to may, but month on month they have been seeing a decline in tourism.

Seems it's the same version on Android that has broken access to some instances. There's an update on the GitHub page that fixes it. 2.38.0

I did a fresh install today. No luck. I can't even pick feddit.uk without an error (Attached image). Version 2.37.2 It's a shame, I like voyager, but I've got a couple of errors. So for now I've downloaded another app and I'm using that instead. Will try again after the next update. 🤞

Since I updated to the latest version of the app - to fix an issue I was having with another error, I can no longer view feddit.uk instance. I initially thought feddit.uk was down and went to view in browser. If I click from an external browser URL and point it to Voyager to control opening it, I get an unknown URL error after the attempt at loading has timed out. (See attached video). I can view other instances e.g. lemmy.ml or lemmy.world but not this one. I downloaded Jerboa just to check but haven't used it yet.

Edited to add video

EDITED - Thanks for the replies. It must be my devices so. I thought it might be my DNS settings which I have set to Adguard DNS, but I disabled that and it made no difference. I will do a fresh install of it tomorrow and see if that helps.

I get "Failed to load media" message whenever I try to upload an image or video in voyager... 🤷

I tried again in the first comment below.

I have been thinking about looking for more European alternatives to Trustpilot for a while as Trustpilot are not trustworthy in my opinion.

They have removed legit reviews and are very expensive for businesses. They have been reported to use aggressive sales tactics, pressuring businesses into paid plans by highlighting negative reviews or offering better visibility for positive ones. Trustpilot has been failing for years to do what it claims it does. For both the customer and the business end.

For both (customer and business), it is better to post reviews on multiple platforms, and for us, it is better if the review platforms are European. I know these are already fairly well known and used in some countries, but not everywhere. Please post links to any others, as I could only find two and hope that there are more.

TrustProfile 🇳🇱 🇪🇺 TrustProfile is more than just reviews. TrustProfile combines an extensive review tool with information from all kind of trustsources.

The Trustbadge 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 The Trustbadge – Grow your Business & Show that your customers love you The one and only Trustbadge® technology collects & displays genuine Customer Reviews at a glance.

I have access to two phones that are no longer being used, a Huawei P20 Pro and a P30 Pro. Through a link on the PotatoNV git page I saw HCUClient which I believe makes it possible to unlock these phones and unlock the bootloader if I buy the software for €19 for 72 hours.

If I unlock the bootloaders, are there any privacy oriented ROMs available for them, or any options at all?

When I search, it seems that because of the bootloaders being locked, nobody had worked on anything, although some posts in random corners of the internet say that there are a couple of options, but without confirming anything.

A quiet but deeply unsettling moment just shook the foundations of international justice, proving why Europe needs digital sovereignty - and most Europeans not too interested in tech likely missed it: The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), a court based in The Hague and central to Europe’s upholding of human rights, suddenly found that his email account was shut down. The service provider? Microsoft. The reason? Mr. Trump.....

Are there any good European crypto wallets? Hardware or otherwise. On Android or desktop or alternatives to Trezor or Ledger? I don't have a lot (€590 btc and €400 eth).

Looking to build on them and for secure storage. Thanks.

EDIT. Sorry, I also meant to add that I'm looking for a wallet with multichain support, so that for example I could convert my bitcoin to USDT or another stablecoin without having to go back an exchange.
