It's probably not an issue of balls, but that her supporters just don't pay attention. The same happened in Ontario. When reporters interviewed Ford supporters during the election, they just said "he seems to have done well enough" despite all the lawsuits and fraud and other serious issues that his opposition kept yelling about.
Dearche
One theory I've been hearing lately is that he doesn't have clearance because he knows he won't pass the needed background check. While it's impossible to know if it is true, to me at least that's a more convincing reason why he keeps refusing to get clearance, especially since he was almost guaranteed to become the next PM until two months ago, and apparently sitting PMs get automatic clearance without a background check.
This is also the reason why Carney went through the entire procedure for his clearance instead of accepting the free pass, so he can use it as a sting against PP.
Dunno in oz, but a US pint is 473mL, and a British pint is 568mL. Quite the difference TBH, and a bunch of bars in Vancouver got fined a few years ago due to shorting customers not providing a full pint when selling them. Some of them were even forced to buy new glasses because they weren't big enough to fit a full pint.
This is a reoccurring problem with the imperial system, since the units just turns into words and no longer hold their meaning as measurements because they're so arbitrary in the first place and are next to impossible to convert on the fly. Like a span is the width of a hand, but that's useless when the difference in size is easily 50% to double just comparing between women and men. Or how you need to specify fluid or dry ounces, yet people often don't bother and just confuse each other by not specifying. Or how complicated conversions and comparisons are to the degree that most people don't do them in imperial and just force themselves to memorize what each arbitrary unit is in a vacuum.
It's either a guy who's a mix of good and bad, or several others that are basically 90%+ all bad.
The question isn't why people shouldn't vote for Carney, but rather is there anybody else worth voting for? Has any of his opponents done anything beneficial for Canada in recent history?
As much as I want to sea traitors like her burn, I do agree on the principal of a clean election. People have been turning against PP precisely because he openly and only fights dirty, purely talking about how bad everybody else is without putting up a single point of good he will do the country if elected.
We need positive forward-facing politicians in power, with anybody more interested in pulling others down be put into the dirt. Winning the election with a purely positive platform without attacking anybody is the best election we can have, even if it doesn't actually change the system in the short term.
This is nothing new. Charities and related tax write-offs are one of the favoured techniques of the rich to avoid paying their taxes for over a thousand years. The fact that such an obvious and well used loop-hole hasn't been closed is simply proof that those with the power to close such loop-holes have zero intent in doing so because they are likely personally benefiting from them.
A collective problem that crosses all levels of government and for every side, not an issue of any specific government.
"Offensive and false" when we have a publicly available recording of her doing exactly that on her province's dime while representing her province in a field she has nothing to do with. Premiers hold zero power outside of their provinces, and anything related to international relations is the responsibility of the federal government, not the provincial one.
She not only overstepped her bounds going to the US, did it on her people's tax dollars, only to do an act of both treason and election interference on the meantime. This, along with the countless illegal and corrupt activities she's been inacting within her own province, she should be investigated by the RCMP and CSIS and be crushed under the full weight of the book.
That's just ridiculous. The pint is a measurement unit in itself. The fact that the bartender didn't seem to be aware of that fact is a failure of the imperial system in itself, though not really a surprise since the system relies entirely on memorizing arbitrary values that have no connection with other units.
Though admittedly, the US pint is smaller than the British pint, so there is justification of pointing that out.
It's insane that these guys don't get fined into oblivion for such blatant lies. This is far different from regular people saying stupid stuff, but instead an organized effort that paid to have such a message heard.
Jeez, I thought my premier was bad (Ford), but to think that she's not just corrupt and stupid, but openly being hostile to fellow Canadians during this moment of crisis.
Albertans needs to have a hard look at how much money the oil barons are stealing from them and think about whether it's worth letting someone so selfish to lead them. The fact that the richest province in the country has one of the lowest public spending and lowest wages is something to to really think about.
I wasn't aware he met anybody between announcing the surcharge and the call with that one American (forgot who it was). But if he did talk to Carney or someone else in the Fed, and that's the reason why he backed off, then I'll respect him a bit more. But it's clear he wants to take full credit for it as part of his useless talks with the US, so he'll never publicly announce it and Carney's cabinet gains nothing to do so as well, so he's lost the opportunity to actually strengthen his position with those that hate him.
Honestly, EU regulations for vehicles are far safer for all involved. Adopting them in whole, even if it'll take time to implement them, would help greatly as well as opening new markets. Not to mention it'll block American cars from our market without having to rely on tariffs in the future.
This is exactly the perfect time to implement such regulations, and I hope the government will introduce laws about it once the election is over.
