This article was a thrill to read. I had no idea that any clothing designed in the software could be printed out onto specialized fabric paper so it could be worn on the doll in real life! Plus the software rendered 3D models of any design quickly on home computers of the time! This is incredible stuff from a technical accomplishment standpoint. I'm glad they're getting recognition in museums; well deserved

My biggest frustration with copyright is in situations when the item is out of print or rights owned by an entity that has dissolved. There really should be a way to republish such works without waiting many decades for it to be in public domain.

They didn't even really need need to make a better app to make more money. If the objective is getting the telemetry for ads by forcing the use of the official app, they could have the equivalent just via APIs and user-specific tokens. The backend would be key, and it would take advantage of an established app market. They could additionally monetize the API, if they approached it more reasonably. They could have the data and have developers pay a toll. Maybe hindsight is 20/20, but the animus they're displaying here is self-defeating.

Agree 💯 What's wild is that it's been taught that you have to use 'established' publications for reliable and accurate information. AI (in)famously can just make things up, and it's going to be at major sites
