In my experience, we left it in the packaging, and also the taps continued running as that helped speed it along. Strictly in cold water.
Not sure what the correct way to write the contraction is, but I assumed it was short for 'all of you will' when used in this context

For some people rent is the smarter option. If your moving around every two years anyway for work you'd lose a lot of time and money on fees and taxes buying and selling. Home ownership should for sure be more accessible though.
