Please settle down, silly geese...

Gerudo-- I think MAYBE I see what you're saying.
I.e., Nate's stuff is not strictly Euro in nature, so you're trying to 'call me out, right?'

But here's the thing, dude-- have you actually READ the purpose and backstory of this community..?

Come on, dude-- let's talk about it, eh..?

Just finished this one, and found it a fine album, indeed. It's by consistently-excellent artist Ana Miralles and writer Emilio Ruiz.

For me, it was a pretty fascinating little 'time-capsule look' in to the life a major Hollywood star (Ava Gardner), her notably iconoclastic nature, the social norms of the 50's, an obsessive overload of fans, the shamelessly aggressive press, and of course, a brief snapshot of Rio de Janeiro, itself.

The unstated joke above is that Ava's agent Dave is thoroughly in to men, which works rather perfectly in the long run, as just-about any hombre swinging a 'third leg' is trying to make a play for her, somehow, some way. XD

Okay, Ava scared me a bit right at the end, lol.

(no idea how long these images will last given Imgur's hugely flaky nature, but what the heck, let's do FULL DETAIL with these)

Whups, oh yeah-- my main point here was actually that I LOVED how well Miralles both depicted and handled the night-life imagery of Rio in a realistic sense. I don't quite have words for it at the moment, but... I find there's a sort of 'clarity' there, if that makes sense.

Oh man, pardon the late reply, and thank you so much, compa! <3

I like how you picked out a fun representation of images to draw people in. Well done, matey. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah... love that!
I was in college at the time, and had a small stipend to buy certain crap that might break my budget.

Honestly, tho, I really wanted to just get laid..

Tell me you desperately crave more attention without outright stating it, mate?

[โ€“] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes of course!

Philip, I'm a complete moron upon such formatting. Terribly sorry, mate.

Huh...!
Interesting.

Well, then, I guess if people don't like it, then they don't like it. (and yes, the point here is indeed ABSOLUTELY about Euro lit)

Honestly, tho-- you down-voters disappoint me. I.e. I feel like there's a place where there's a silly zone of creativity that should always be respected.

Still-- if the people have spoken, then the people have spoken...?

Actually... @Sergio@slrpnk.net, amigo, compa, et al , could you possibly, maybe mention us across those first two links, please?

There is just so much to take care over here, at the moment. And burning myself out accomplishes nothing positive IMO.

For sure, it's an 'American product,' but it's also got that European-style, sly observational quality.

Oof, I suppose we could argue endlessly upon this stuff, but at the end of the day? I feel like I'm mainly correct in listing it here. Do speak up though if you feel I acted in error.

Oh, and I also cut down on a couple links that are no longer relevant, outdated, etc, upon yon sidebar. So you should only see eight total now, I believe..?

Thanks for sharing. <3

Interesting in that this series first came out a few years before George Lucas' SW revival, specifically with it's new Sith law of 'there can only be two,' in which the apprentice essentially has to prove themselves worthy by murdering their master.

George... I feel like you might have borrowed something from Alejandro, here!

AFAIK Juan Gimenez did most (or all?) of the Metabaron art, so yeah... same person!

Thanks! IIRC I hit up the 3rd, but didn't know about the first two. Adding...

If you're the founder of a community that runs Lemmy, then you should be automatically senior mod. If you're not sure, and as mentioned above, you could add a dummy mod acct.

I'm imagining the title here being "Going for a new tattoo?," based on the sign. It's by German cyberpunk artist Puia, who runs Baka Arts. As of the moment it doesn't look like he's doing any BD, but I think he'd be a great fit.

There's loads more of his cool LC-style stuff at his Instagram. Note: the entry link below doesn't need you to be logged in to see the images.

So, I'm currently finishing up a small project to look through every migrated post here, deleting where necessary, but mostly adding 'flair,' which you should be able to see on the sidebar. When I'm done, you'll be able to hit any of those buttons and see a curated list of matching posts.

Still a few things to do before I feel like this place is 'up to speed' after the move, but it's getting closer and closer. One annoying problem is that almost every inter-community link that's been posted here which once worked, is now broken, and even as the same community runner, I can't edit them except to add flair. Perhaps this is a feature that will one day be added across the Fediverse, though?

Anyway, the biggest blow of course remains the loss of almost 1200 subscribers, meaning we're somehow right back to where we started from in needing to get this place more exposure, some how, some way. Sort of ironic I guess, in that August 1st will mark our two-year anniversary. ๐Ÿฅด

Thanks for reading, and have a nice weekend, everyone. ^^

So-- I would love nothing better than to host every image on Imgur and call it a day, except that Imgur is just *lol* with that business. I.e., in some cases, I have stuff that's been there for ~10yrs with no issue, and then there's a bunch of other stuff that routinely gets deleted after 3-4mos or so.

Not trying to ramble here, but my concern is that I don't want to weigh down our host, and instead want to find the 'right pocket,' i.e. a good-size image file that let's me show off our image content, but isn't a burden upon our host.

Plus of course, sometimes showing off a certain series requires ~10 images or so, meaning the image-serving requirements are 10x the nominal requirement.

In cases like that, I have no problem uploading such content to Imgur, even if it's not going to last long, but... I kinda want to figure out how I should handle these things, if that makes sense...

Thank you for any and all advice.

With much thanks to PF's site-runner, as well as good advice from @Blaze@piefed.social, we've successfully moved!

NEW ADDRESS:
https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels
OLD ADDRESS:
https://lemm.ee/c/eurographicnovels

On the positive tip, we were able to preserve ~390 out of ~550 historical posts, so that's better than starting over. On a more sobering side, it looks like we're going to lose most of our (current) ~1,260 subscribers, and PieFed being a different instance, running different software, it's not clear to me if we're going to get the same exposure to "ALL" streams that we once enjoyed.

While it's true that I can invite individual members to join, it seems that (unlike PF), the Lemmy software doesn't allow me to see a list of subscribers, even as the founder and head mod. If anyone has any ideas on that, feel free to advise...

In any case, I hope you find something you might like at our (now smaller ๐Ÿ˜…) community / sub-lemmy.

When using the 'migrate tool,' I don't seem to be seeing a 'closing message' as I'd hoped, but maybe the form isn't set up to give me one? Eh, whatever. So then, here's an extra confirmation attempt to make it clear that I'm asking PF to migrate my classic Lemm.ee community over to PF, as follows:

https://lemm.ee/c/eurographicnovels
wants to turn in to:
https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels

With the specific request post being here:
https://lemm.ee/post/67797135

Thanks for any and all help getting it sorted, <3
Johnny
