President has wide latitude in matters like this. Air strikes in this context are legal for him. He can even deploy troops as long as their deployment isn't longer then 60 days.

Because they can be slotted in to work existing machinery without retooling the entire plant.

I'm one of those older Trekkies who will complain about the aesthetic choices of the DSC sets.

My view is that there is a certain style with sci-fi shows of this nature that are part of their identity.

Large swings in design choices are very distracting to the point of being off putting to me unless there is good reason for it.

One thing I absolutely applaud Disney for is how they've managed to modernize but still keep the 70s aesthetics in their Star Wars shows. And I wish Trek had followed the same path.

If your policy change is going to harm the less fortunate then you should re-evaluate the policy.

A land value tax just shifts those who can't afford it out of their homes and hands more land over to the wealthy.

Land isn't the problem with housing. The problem is that developers have figured out it's more profitable to build fewer expensive properties than a large number of affordable ones. Not only do they have to do less work, but it keeps the market artificially low and so lets them charge more for what inventory they do have.

So they do just that.

And the residential development market has such a huge investment level to enter you won't see many willing to roll the dice on mass producing affordable housing.

Show me a home builder who has plans which are less than 3k sqft these days. You won't find one.

No way. That would fuck over way too many people who are just trying to live out their lives in the home they've built/purchased/inherited.

The streamlined menu makes it so the line goes pretty fast.

Even when it's around the building it'll only take 10 min.

Florida here checking in.

Our government is hard at work on this.

Check out this pending bill up for vote during the next session: https://m.flsenate.gov/session/bill/2024/599/billtext/filed/pdf https://m.flsenate.gov/session/bill/2024/599/billtext/filed/pdf

Essentially it makes it illegal to be transgender and have a job in government or government adjacent.

Here is an excert: It is the policy of the state that a person's sex is an immutable biological trait and that it is false to ascribe to a person a pronoun that does not correspond to such person's sex. This section does not apply to individuals born with a genetically or biochemically verifiable disorder of sex development, including, but not limited to, XX disorder of sex development; XY disorder of sex development; sex chromosome disorder of sex development; XX or XY sex reversal; and ovotesticular disorder.

An employee or a contractor may not be required, as a condition of employment, to refer to another person using that person's preferred personal title or pronouns if such personal title or pronouns do not correspond to that person's sex.
An employee or a contractor may not provide to an employer his or her preferred personal title or pronouns if such preferred personal title or pronouns do not correspond to his or her sex.

It continues on about not being able to fire people for thinking being gay is a sin and so on, but I don't want this to be a novel.

It's normal for young children to have a music class, usually this is primarily a 'fun' class and includes a lot of chorus singing.

This was one of the songs sung in the class when I was a kid.

No one has suggested you would just execute a person on sight while they are under the influence.

In these situations there are interviews, evaluations and waiting periods to ensure the person is 'of sound mind' before proceeding.

So with that cleared up, I'll repeat my question.

Why should you get to be the arbiter of if someone else is allowed to die?

[–] Kepabar@startrek.website 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I still don't think that answers the question:

Why should anyone other than yourself be the arbiter of if your life should continue?

Yes, it's generally considered rude to switch languages specifically to hide your conversation.

It's because most will assume you are doing it to talk shit.
