I’m really getting tired of this narrative. It completely invalidates that +73M people voted for Trump. More than 73 million people thought he was the right choice. It’s less important that Harris got 15 million less votes than Biden and more important that more than 73 million brain dead morons exist in this country and there’s an extremely high chance that at least 25% will procreate and continue our Idiocracy long beyond our lifetimes.

Donovan enjoyed his only US number one hit, "Sunshine Superman", which featured then Yardbird and future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. The single wouldn't be released in the UK for another five months, but when it was, it rose to number 3

Van Halen released what would become their most successful song, "Jump", as the lead single from the album "1984". The tune would top the Billboard Hot 100 on February 25th, 1984 and stay there for five weeks. Over the years, vocalist David Lee Roth has given various accounts of the meaning behind the lyrics, but he usually says they were inspired by a TV news story he saw where a man was about to commit suicide by jumping off a building.

Vocalist Ian Anderson and bassist Glenn Cornick leave the John Evans Blues Band to form Jethro Tull, naming their group after the 18th century inventor of a number of farm implements. John Evan himself will later join them as Jethro Tull's keyboard player.

Carl Perkins records "Blue Suede Shoes", a song that he wrote after seeing a young man get angry at his date for scuffing his shoes. Even though today we more often hear Elvis Presley's version, it only made it to number 20 on the Billboard Top 100 during a five week stay, while was Perkins' original went to number 2 and stayed on the chart for 17 weeks.

I’m from the US and it freaks me out all the damn time. If it’s supposed me feel any safer, it doesn’t — AT ALL!

All laws that impact our rights should be up for a vote. Then after X number of years they should be back on the ballot to see if the public opinion has changed

Hall And Oates overtook The Everly Brothers as the top recording duo of all time when their biggest hit, "Maneater" reached number 1 on the US singles chart. It made #6 in the UK.

Lets not forget, D avid Bowie releases his fourth studio album, "Hunky Dory", which would make it to #3 on the UK Official Album Chart, but miss the Billboard 200. The first single from the LP, "Changes", would fail to chart in the UK and only reached #66 on the Hot 100

Also, today in 1989:

Billy Joel started a two week run at #1 on the Billboard Pop chart with "We Didn't Start The Fire". The song, in which Joel sings about headlining events that have occurred during his lifetime, was a #7 hit in the UK.

The day after John Lennon was murdered, Yoko Ono issued a statement to the press that read: "There is no funeral for John. John loved and prayed for the human race. Please do the same for him. Love, Yoko and Sean." She also pleaded with chanting and singing mourners outside The Dakota to re-convene in Central Park the following Sunday for ten minutes of silent prayer. Meanwhile, Paul went into a recording studio to clear his head. He reportedly told his guitarist, Denny Laine, "I'm never gonna fall out with anybody again, just in case this happens."
