I don't get it, why?

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 8 points 8 hours ago

Makes easier to understand it's two different posts from two different people. Easily confused otherwise

Thank you! It took me a while to find the api2 but I got there. Well that does it then :)

I don't have white balance controls that I can see, or a slider for shutter speed (even if it does have an option for bracketing there isn't much I can control on it). ISO selection is also missing. Controls for other things seem to be there but the interface has less information, I have no idea of what values I have for anything. I do appreciate the option for flashlight on, that's handy, and postprocessing seems less aggressive than my default camera.

"is that... Is that an ant crawling on my head...?" Poor guy looks terrified ha

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 1 points 14 hours ago

Alright, I'll have a look

I just did, it appears to be a minor improvement over the default but I have less manual controls. Not bad for the time being

I don't understand why this matters that much- my old phone is a Motorola g8 plus, current one is a moto g84 5g and is about a year old. The camera isn't the selling point for either but I would expect at least similar quality since it's considered an "upgrade"(not that I had a choice there).

Default camera apps for both, Android obviously.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 1 points 15 hours ago

No, I've never tried any camera app other than the default

Privacy friendly ftw. I'm not satisfied with the amount of post processing mine does to images, I have little to no control over it. It's like it adds very aggressive blur and sharpen filters for everything, and when you zoom up everything looks "blobby".

My previous phone took way better photos, and I still use it if I need something looking a bit better. But it would be nice if I could just take decent photos with what I got, since I don't always carry my old phone everywhere.

Suggestions?

The fact that your account is brand new makes me think you either have no idea where you are, or you are trolling.

I was born and raised in a country with plenty of deep seated corruption. I understand the mechanics allowing this to happen, but the style, that's american style. We didn't get things like these

I've seen this one in particular

Understanding the context now doesn't make me feel any better :/

I've seen people posting tweets from public figures talking about alligators, seen other people joking about alligators. It appears to me that the issue is political, not environmental, but I don't fully get the picture.

What's going on?

AI driven Emotional Wellness Apps in particular. Good to see people noticing this

Originally asked in the TTRPG community and was suggested to ask at a printing community, so here I am. Hello.

I'm looking for someone or some place (Australia based if possible) that prints miniatures. I'd be supplying the file. I've never sent anything to 3d print and I must be awful at searching because I can't find a single site that has like a rough quote for minis. Of course I understand they would give me a different quote once I supply a file, but so far I have absolutely no clue on what to expect. $20? $150? Do you get a better deal if you print multiple items? Does it matter if they're different or all the same?

That, for starters. Next - what material should I be getting these prints on? (I hear that's resin?)

What resolution/parameters do I need to keep in mind for my files?

Is there any way to make sure the printer won't be reselling my work? (ie., printing my custom made models and selling them elsewhere)

Does anyone have any recommendations for Australia?

Thanks

I make recurring payments that require exchange. I'm absolutely not financially savvy. I'm good at managing my personal budget but when it comes to financial jargon and market know hows I'm a dummy.

I'm looking for some kind of tool that helps me monitor exchange rates and sends me alerts. I'm hoping to make the payments in as much of a favorable window as possible.

I tried installing Revolut but I'm not going to use it (I can only make the payments with Western Union) and I found all the data they requested just too much for nothing.

I hope you Lemmies can recommend a FOSS app for this? Or at least something privacy friendly? Remember I'm not using it to pay, just to monitor.

TIA

I thought I hated capsicum most of my life but lately (past my mid 30s) I've come to actually really like it raw. As in salads or sandwiches. I'm enjoying that. As a child my parents would add it frequently to meals but it would always be cooked and I was never a fan.

Or mushrooms for example. I love them almost any way except preserved. If they came from inside a tin or jar with long shelf life the taste is just horrendous.

Similar for artichokes, they must be fresh.

I love sesame seeds, but I absolutely hate sesame seed oil and I can't understand why. The taste is so different.

Curious about yours. Any similar examples?

It'll be my birthday soon and I've no idea what to do to celebrate with my family.

Usually we gather and go eat out or make a meal at home but I'm uninspired about any restaurants or cafes atm, and I've no idea what menu to suggest if the gathering happens at home.

So perhaps you guys can recommend either something that's fun to cook or easy or maybe a type of dish you enjoyed somewhere. Or maybe you have other suggestions, like going to the cinema- but there aren't any interesting movies on now.

First world problems I guess, any ideas?

The question sounds hyper stupid but hear me out.

We have an underwhelming volume of shit that relies on plastic. Plastic is cheap and versatile. If we replaced the vast majority of it, I presume costs for most products would creep up, and we would also shift our demand for natural resources (such as wood for paper ). Are there enough resources to sustainably replace our current volume of single use plastics? Or would we be sentencing all of our remaining forests to extinction if we did? Would products remain roughly equally affordable?

Let's imagine we replace, overnight, all single use plastic in this hypothetical scenario with an alternative. All parcels are now mailed in paper; waxed paper if you need humidity resistance. Styrofoam pebbles are now paper shreds and cardboard clusters. No more plastic film, anywhere. No more plastic bags, only paper. No more plastic wrapping for any cookies confectionery, etc; it's paper and thin boxes like those of cereals. Toothbrushes, pens, and a variety of miscellaneous items are now made of wood, cardboard, glass, metal, etc. The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Is this actually doable? Or is there another reason besides plastic companies not wanting to run out of business that we haven't done this already? Why are we still using so much fucking plastic?

I just want a free minimalist app on my phone that lets me enter a date on one column, and a bunch of other values in other columns. I don't even need it to perform math, but I won't mind if it does. Bonus points if I can export the data, but not a deal breaker. I don't need any sync.

I could be using Google Sheets but fuck Google and also I want to keep my data local and private on my phone.

Thanks
