Wooo! You can do it buddy. I'm routing for you!

I've been using the Finch app with a few of my friends for about a year now. It's kind of a virtual pet that grows as you meet your daily goals. Mine are small things like brushing my teeth twice a day, taking meds, going outside, lifting heavy things, ext

It also has a lot of built in activities for journaling and breathing exercises.

You can encourage and motivate your friends with it. It doesn't show you their goals or personal info. It's a great way to express gratitude or just let them know I am thinking about them.

We had a pretty good snowstorm. I noticed this guy out still looking for a late night snack.

Bun

I'd use the open source ones but I haven't found one that handles transit schedules in my area yet. I'd be open to suggestions on that.

Cool. I don't sympathise at all. They could stand but they choose to bend a knee to tyrants. It's no inconvenience to me to use alternatives to their products, as I'm sure it's no inconvenience to them that I do so. It's a peaceful solution all round.

I picked up one called HERE WeGo. It seems ok so far, it gives me transit route options and such. Really all I need and it knows how to spell Mexico.

What's an LLM?

I know this might be a controversial opinion, but I think it’s something that needs to be addressed in my area. It seems like people around here don't really care for their cats, and I wonder if some of the ones I see regularly might be part of a feral colony. I’ve seen over 10 different cats on my small property (not all at once), and recently, when the temperature dropped below -20°C (-4°F), I still saw them hiding under cars. One of the cats appeared to be only a few months old, which is heartbreaking. Another cat is missing its tail, and one has a missing ear. The area also has a lot of skunks and raccoons, which can be dangerous, so I’m concerned for their safety. If these cats have homes, they should definitely be in them. But I’m also worried that the city’s solution might be to just put them all down. What are your thoughts?

Update: I've done some research and found local groups monitor the feral cat population in the area. I am near a shelter (I didn't know that) so it's possible these are shelter cats. I'm just going to work with that shelter to see if thats the case. I have security cam footage of a few of them but not posting pictures for privacy reasons.

Also I'd love to bring them in but I only rent a room here. The owners should prefer I didn't do that so I need to honor that. However if the local shelter thinks it's ok I may set a heated cathouse in the back yard.

This idea is probably easier to market (therefore better). I just wanted to play a video game with a cat. But realistically most I met would just sleep on the screen. Human vs human is a bit more playable.

I might hold back on the weapons thing though. I'd want the player to feel helpless. The advantage for player 2 is player one can always see them either. Thick smoke or ceilings might make it hard for them to tell where player B is. If player B needs more of an advantage you could limit the potential paths player A can take so that player B can try to block the easier ones or make them more difficult.

It'd be player vs player vs environment.

You could have it balance that is player B is too destructive the environment becomes more hostile as missiles and stuff attack them and slow them down. Though this can harm player A as well it will give them more rubble and smoke to hide under.

Lots of potential. Though I definitely do not have the time to make a game like this. So if anyone out there wants it then go nuts. (Maybe leave a cat mode though lol)

Just keep her away from the juggolo's and things will be fine.

Middle of night woke up just to write this somewhere. Sorry is words are bad.

Game that's 2 player.

Player one is in a 3rd person fully emersive 3D city. This is a PC game. Player one is always host. The objective is just to make it to the other end of the city. No guns or anything. The city is being destroyed by a mysterious force. Plans are crashing building being leveled you just need to make it to safety without being crushed. It's night, theres fire and screaming, explosions all around scary stuff.

Player 2 is playing on a tablet or touch screen device. They are playing a cute game where all you need to do is tap the dot. The dot moves slowly from one end of the screen to the other hiding under colorful pipes and squares. You can also tap butterflies and things the dot might hide under to remove them. There is a lot of positive happy noises.

The dot is player one. The real catch. Player 2 is a cat.

Good luck. Let us as a community know how we can help you.

I was in elementary in Canada early 90's. My school was weird. There's a large Mennonite community in the area where I grew up so a large percentage (more than 50%) of the kids in this school were Mennonite. For those unfamiliar, these are similar to Amish. Such farmers with strong religious views, most of them were "old order" meaning they grew up in homes with little to no electricity. They also finish school at age 12 regardless of progress. This meant that they were exempt from a lot of the classes my tiny public school had to offer. No French, computing, or Sex Ed. A lot of them were also in special Ed. I'm not going to sugar coat this. It's forbidden from them to marry outside of their culture and only like 4 families came to the area. So there's a lot of disabilities as a result of inbreeding with that community.

All this to say that my school had absolutely no clue how to deal with my undiagnosed autism. But they seemed to have decent funding due to the much higher needs.

I was in special Ed via French exemption status. This means I never learned french. I'd instead be placed in a room with all the Mennonite kids often in a corner trying to read. Eventually I was put into some kind of program. A neurologist should come by and do experiments on me. Nothing weird, just testing my fine motor skills. They (falsely) diagnosed me with "elementary tremors" a pediatric doctor upped this to a "retardation caused by mild down syndrome" (extremely wrong) after years of that nonsense they decided to use this crazy new fangled technology to give me a leg up with writing. I was given a Macintosh computer. I had a desk with tiny wheels and my 4th grade self had to wheel this from class to class (including "portables"). Of course this was pretty obsolete tech even for its time. My parents got me an Alpha Smart which was way better. By 6th grade I had a personal support worker to help get me caught up. I failed grades 3-6 but was 'placed' into the next grade anyway and never made to repeat anything.

Highschool was very different, no Mennonite, so way less funding. It was still a French exemption class but there were only about 5 other students in the class. It seemed to be less about education, or assessment of my condition. It was some watching videos and doing some analysis. It was mostly just a time to catch up on homework. Often there wasn't even a teacher present.

https://youtu.be/aBa82NCdLoc a half as interesting video on this topic

This is a Canadian asking about the US. Though given that crappy state of things here we could consider it as well.

If the next president isn't picked as a result of the popular vote but as a result of the system being terrible then a majority of the people of the country will have been wronged.

Instead of doing civil war about it, what if there was a mass movement to just do nothing. Everyone just grabs a chair and sits on their lawn or in a park all day and just chills out instead of working, attending events, or really participating in the economy in any significant way. Take a sick day or somthing if it helps. But anybody can do nothing.

In only a few days, maybe less, the economy whould take a massive hit. Just everyone sits around untill a fair election is called without any electoral college or first past the post nonsense.

Obviously there's huge challenges to this. Like finding an end condition everyone can agree on. Also getting a representative to ensure the demands had been met. the huge wave of firing, threats, and violence from the other side whould probably have some effect. But the other side is a minority, and could be overwhelmed.

So if big enough, could it work?

I'm not in the security field so sorry if I seem like a newbie. Not sure where else to ask.

I setup my own email domain thing with the help of some kind Lemmy folk. I'm on Namecheap, it was a little tricky for me to set up but it seems to have been working out great.

But yesterday, and again today I got this notice from DMARC that Mail . ru is doing stuff with my account.

advice I was able to google suggest I needed to change a setting from "none" to "reject".

can anyone tell me if I've done this right? also has any damage been done by me not having this set sooner?

Renting a room in an old house. The landlady is one of the rare good ones and cooks for me somtimes so I'm trying to be handy where I can.

This light in my office died, and a few others in the house are in dire need of replacing. Rusted and covered in decades of caked on dust, probably hazardous.

I keep seeing units like this. https://a.co/d/iU3hAd3

But I'm wondering if I should get a few of those or get another bulb style ceiling lamps and just use LED bulbs?

nearly 16 are now "infected" I've been studying this thing for like 2 years, my scientist mentioned they could "solve" it some time ago. But now even they have been adding to the garden. I'm wondering if my curiosity has doomed them all.

Sorry for another "Is this autism or normal human behavior?" Post.

There's a long story as to why I am experiencing this again but it's not really any more relevant then the title of this post.

For older folk it's like that episode of the Simpsons where Lisa, out of pity, give Ralf Wiggim a valentines day card and he immediately starts invisioning a future with her as his romantic parter.

I've identified I have this same trait and I hate it. Looking back I've totally made people who had been nothing but kind to me uncomfortable and shut me out because of this.

Now knowing that I am doing this is at least making me a little more in control and hopfully less weird. But now I need to stop and asses every interaction I have which is itself awkward.

I made a deal with my employers, they'd provide me time and funding and I'd pass some project management training to help with task related to that role.

I've been doing project managment for years already and it's a subject I am confident in. The course was easy for me since I found one geared towards my learning style.

But I got too confident and suggested I could pass the certification exam. I havnt had an exam since high-school and I did pretty badly at those.

The problem is that the questions are mostly scenerio based and I am taking things too literally, focusing on the wrong detials, or considering things from the wrong perspectives. It's driving me crazy because I know what I am doing and I have a lot of pressure to succeed, but this poorly written exam could prevent me from achieving it.

Does anyone else have this issue or know any preparation resources I could use to help me intrupet these things better?

Not sure if its just me. But the subscribed view is just showing me feeds from a bunch if stuff I am not subscribed too. I am still able to see my subscriptions in the sidebar, it's just the feed view.

solved: comment from user Otter mentioned lemmy.ca had updated. Logging out and back in solves this issue.

I've been having a dought. It's a small nagging one but it's there.

I've been working a lot with my therapist on self hate issues, but I can acknowledge them.

I realized I can never really be in any kind of physical relationship with somone because of this. I'm repulsed by myself and perhaps my asexuality is just a result of that.

I wonder if I am so repulsed by myself that the idea of me being with anyone is rejected because of the "me" part and not how I feel towards others. Where some may think "I want to kiss that person" I can't bare the thought if subjecting somone to me in that way. And therefore the thought is gross.

Does anyone else deal with this? Any advice?

It's a typical video game peasant looking npc lamenting at no on in particular that's there's a very solvible problem. Oh is only somone could solve this for them! While a very strong capible looking player character is right next to them.

I'm reading somthing about emotional blackmail. Apprently this meme describes one form of it perfectly. Though I havnt seen it in years and I can't find it via searches.
