Agreed that it’s public now - in the case of up/downvoting publication is instance-dependent — and can be scraped, but as a federated instance Meta can just load it directly.

Sharing user data with a an instance with a firm that exists to monetize data seems a fundamental violation of what the fediverse is.

Just shows how good the redress was.

Our household has now more ships than places to put them. 😉

Still looking for a few of the special run ships to come out.

This long and measured process is making Fridays interesting.

I like to think that Picard was more interested in the painstaking reality of genuine archeology than raiding / treasure hunting.

Running around (with or without Vash) in an Indiana Jones kind of way flew in the face of Picard’s core respect for other cultures and civilizations in context.

I’m always surprised when I see how many otherwise thoughtful fan critics ignore the moral conflict in ‘tomb raiding’. On the other hand, Patrick Stewart the actor would have liked the excuse for swashbuckling adventuring at any age.

Unfortunately, as Patrick Stewart imposed his interests and personality on the character, Picard became less and less the cerebral captain whose leadership style I admired and wished to emulate.

I’m not sure Patrick Stewart has ever understood the qualities in Picard that captivate so many in the peak midrun of TNG.

It seems that many Star Trek authors, writers, and producers etc. set up Mastodon accounts when then expected to be leaving Twitter.

Some of those accounts are being kept semi active but don’t have active followers. I understand that following a Mastodon account from Lemmy isn’t as feasible as the other way. I’m wondering if those members might be more active if they knew there was a community here that’s interested to engage.

All to say that it would be great if

— we could have guidance on how to follow them from here if possible (rather than creating separate Mastodon accounts;

—the mods here could message them to let them know there’s a new and active community here interested to engage.

So very many fun things to come!

Yes Boimler, it is the golden age of exploration.

I’d rather see Cronenberg take a shot at a limited streaming series.

He seems to have come to the end of the run of his body horror progression.

More, he’s already working in the franchise playing the enigmatic Kovich and knows the Toronto crews (and their parents in some cases he’s said).

I’m enjoying the series, and haven’t found it dragging.

I’ve been holding off buying Wool before the season finishes its release, but expect to chew through them quickly once it’s done.

I am though somewhat annoyed with the cliffhanger at the end of every episode. I have to wonder if this is something Apple executives have required, but it’s tiresome.

Has there been a courtroom episode in the series that’s been a dud?

Not that I recall.

But they’ve been used sparingly, which increases the dramatic tension.

Formerly the S31 ship in season two and the Sheng’Zhou in season one, I believe.

We’ll see it again in Discovery season five, but it may be its last outing in terms of production date.

CBS seems to be getting every last bit of staging they can out of that enormous Pinewood Toronto soundstage they had under longterm lease. (Pinewood Toronto is on city land and partially owned and managed by Bell Media.)

It sounds as though they’ll be letting the Pinewood spaces go now that Discovery has wrapped. The Toronto EPs Frank Siracusa and John Weber convinced CBS Studios lease space and establish their own soundstages in the region. CBS Stages in Mississauga opened the fall before the COVID pandemic. It’s where the main sets for SNW are located, and Starfleet Academy is expected to be produced.
