But car buyers' preferences have also shifted dramatically to larger trucks and SUVs in the past 10 years or so, and even more towards high-tech and comfort amenities in the form of cameras, sensors, radars and large infotainment screens," he said.

You can’t buy a smaller truck because the manufacturers lobbied that large trucks are exempt from stricter emissions and thus they don’t have to engineer a smaller, more efficient truck.

Vaguely reminds me of “The Batman” Batmobile.

Also, why is the lighting poor in every shot?

Mmm. Malicious compliance.

Honestly, it’s pretty ingenious. If they can get their publishers to help push for appeal, then it’ll be worth it in the long run.

Feels like something I’d read about in WWII.

Hydroelectric production has dropped by about six percent since last year, causing it to slip from 6.1 percent to 5.8 percent of the total production. Depending on the next couple of months, that may allow solar to pass hydro on the list of renewables.

That’s a little disappointing. Hydro seems to always be forgotten amongst renewable sources. Granted, it’s the most location specific of the renewables, but still.

Covid vaccination is at an all time low since roll out, we have new strains, and everyone is back from sharing bugs with relatives at Thanksgiving.

Christmas is up soon.

Haha! I won’t lie. The “One big Dakota” gag 100% inspired this prompt.

Ooh nice! I liked the little philosophical back and forth.

And congrats on being the first here to ever fulfill a prompt!

The UN's 2021 global emissions gap report showed that governments' energy plans would lead to about 57% more oil, and 71% more gas in 2030 than is consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5C.

2030 is the current deadline for US automakers to dedicate no less than 50% of their production to be EVs. I’m certain there’s a lot of fine print under that… but still, I’m curious how that impacts those 51% and 71% ratios compared to current production. Like, how much headway are we expecting to make (or lose?) by 2030?

It’s plainly obvious more needs to be done… I want to know how much headway we’re making.

So I looked up the specs for the first 5K-ish India car I found.

https://www.cardekho.com/maruti/alto-k10/specs

As far as I can tell, it has every feature you’re saying is responsible for western automakers charging around 6 times the cost of this car… sans heated seats and purported safety standards.

Chevy charges an additional $1K for the package that adds heated seats to their Bolt EV.

So, am I to take you at face value that you’re inferring that safety concerns and standards are responsible for the remainder of the price gouging?

Well, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve put my foot in my mouth. For that I apologize.

If it’s any consolation, my goal with the prompt, wasn’t to discredit the arduous unrewarded efforts of our educators. It was to put someone actively disqualified for a narrative role in such a situation.

But I felt that alone wasn’t especially interesting. There should be a puzzle allowing the prompted writer to put an unexpected twist on an otherwise straightforward prompt. Hence the atheist producing results counter to their values.

But if this is still considered in poor taste, then I give the mods permission to delete this.
