I'm not saying I would like it, its not a sentiment, its just questioning possibilities. Which now I see how hard it is thanks to other more informative comments. I would not like it in fact, if it happened, but if it did, a gos iphone would not belong in the enclosed garden since its only the hardware provider. (imo).

Security is a medium to get to Privacy, which imo is the means for freedom in the digital aspect.

Is Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) and/or Memory Integrity Encforcement (MIE) one of the requisite features for GrapheneOS?

The recent moves from Google that look like Android will become more of a "closed garden", and it might affect the furure of privacy ROMs.

I'm not sure if thats the same reason for this, but GrapheneOS have stated that they are working on a phone from another Android OEM. I have no idea if apple's chips allow exclusively ios or linux-like os on the system, but how feasable is it that they might consider Apple (given if the inclusion of MIE & MTE makes iPhones more compatible with gOS) in the future?

Just in a dream scenario where they are

  • Seamless, Not bulky
  • GrapheneOS version for it
  • Physical kill switch for mic, camera and sensors
  • Tor routed, or VPN friendly
  • Only open source software
  • Environmental and Fair wages commitment
  • 100% Repairable and pro-consumer ownership
  • Up to date law for these technologies

I feel like a phoneless future is quite interesting, even though we will face new issues like not knowing if a person is paying attention to you or not.

? voip services dont require your contacts to be on the same service for calls

[–] ambardeshielo@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

yupp but i cant tell all my contacts to download signal if they want to call me. i dont have the highest threat model, so i was inclining for a service that can deliver incoming normal calls to a voip number and viceversa with outgoing calls.

not chat but calls? we do have lots of good chat options, but i think there is a demand for more solid options for current call privacy tools

[–] ambardeshielo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

actually i was asking for voip options

Makes sense, they license all of the content under their ownership, it sucks. I picked Voyager as a client, and will be using Infinity as a R. front end for now.

Hi! Those of you who use New Pipe (YT front-end on android) know that you can change your feed and search to Soundcloud, a Peertube instance, Bandcamp, and more, all in the same app.

I would love to stay on Lemmy, but most of the times that I´m looking for something, I find the answer that helps me on Reddit. If there could be a client where I´m logged into Lemmy, and could search Reddit as well with a switch button, it would be ideal for me, but i havent found a client that can do this. I don´t like having both apps, i would rather just have one. Any thoughts?
