And I really wish people would stop being so self-centered as to request that news reporters use phrasing that be so imprecise as to be potentially untrue just to suit their whiny whims. You sound like you're so eager to introduce this little speech code of yours that you're asking the world to act and talk like non-outed gay people don't exist and never did. How more backwards can you get?

Yeah, drugs/pharmaceuticals are a very big market.

Long live Firefox and high praises to all those who develop, maintain and package it.

Release notes: “Firefox now defaults to the Wayland compositor [...] It is also a known issue that windows are not correctly placed when restoring a previous session on launch.” I had been led to believe that one of Wayland's strengths was solving the correct window coordinates save-and-restore problem. Does someone know what happened here?

Yeah it's seriously upsetting.

Bro it's cool if your needs are best served by Windows or OS X but please don't lump me along with childish ideologues like OP. I've switched to Linux on my work Desktop about seven years ago, yet that didn't make me feel the need to go full-communist about it, nor do I hold it up as some kind of free market success story.

That's pretty neat. There's also an SMB client called CIFS Documents Provider (by Atsushi Wada) that's Free (MIT License) & open source.

I get it 100%! I'm a systems nerd myself and that meaning came to my mind right after I had typed the word “symbols.” It would have been more accurate for me to have said “glyphs”instead.

Interesting idea! Some of what I anticipate would happen:

  • Captcha-protected sites no longer usable
  • Google Maps API being blocked would break address recognition, causing some forms to no longer work (food delivery for instance)
  • Symbols not being rendered on websites that rely on google-provided fonts
  • Some websites rely entirely on google for internal search
  • Other weird breakage on websites that rely on googleapis.com
  • Of course no more Youtube videos, even embedded

What else?

Ten Extra Minutes In The Scream Box is the coolest name ever for an emo/screamo/metalcore band.

Here's a few I enjoy using that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

  • Phonograph Plus: elegant music player using Material UI design
  • Etar +ICS² : Etar is a nice-looking calendar app that uses Material UI design, and ICS² enables me to sync the Holiday Calendars provided on Thunderbird.net.
  • Etar+ DAVx² + NextCloud : enables syncing my local Etar calendar(s) with any NextCloud instance (using CalDAV). DAVx² also allows for syncing my Android contacts to NextCloud (using CardDAV)
  • AnySoft Keyboard: extremely customizable, varied keyboard layouts, for those who want all punctuation marks and quote signs built-in.
  • Irregular Expressions: alternative keyboard for goofing around with unicode textstyles (🅒🅘🅡🅒🅛🅔🅢, 𝕺𝖑𝖉 𝕰𝖓𝖌𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖍 𝕭𝖔𝖑𝖉, Extra wide, etc.)
  • Simple Notes : minimalist "note to self" memos.
