Just the web interface for me - it does everything I want, so I have an instance of Firefox on my phone dedicated to social media, with always open tabs for Lemmy, Discuit, Tildes and Pixelfed.

It's not from this year, is it? Still pretty cold around here...

Resembling? Yeah, sure. He also engaged in rhythmical chest expansions resembling breathing, and arrived at the podium by putting one foot in front of the other, in a manner that might be interpreted as walking in some circles...

For fuck's sake, the word mincing is driving me fucking insane...

"When Mr Trump early in his tenure agreed to feature in an HBO documentary in which all living presidents read from the constitution, Mr Trump blamed others in the room when he struggled to read the text.

"It's like a foreign language,” he allegedly complained."

People are often saying "hurr durr Trump can't read," but even that is not really a joke - the man truly is barely literate.

What have you done America, what the hell have you done...

The thing is, they don't give a rat's ass about history, morals, integrity or all other silly shit like that. Is the line going up and are their wallets getting fatter? Yes? In that case full speed ahead! Money (and power, since it helps to make even more money) is the only thing corporations are interested in...

Right, that's all great, but after all the slamming, blasting and scorching, will there be ANY negative consequences for him? CAN there even be any negative consequences for him anymore?

[–] doctortofu@reddthat.com 4 points 5 days ago

True, and you're right of course. I just wish there were at least SOME consequences for at least some of this shit...

Because they're lying. They proved time and again that blatantly and shamelessly lying is a viable and effective strategy with no negative consequences, so they're doing it again.

This is exactly what "blinded by hate" refers to. He wasn't attacked, he was not in any danger, he simply decided to attempt murdering people because they dared to exist in the same approximate space. This is how much he hates "those people" - that he felt justified in killing them on sight with zero provocation...

It continuously baffles me how the principles of conservatism seem to be, in a way, the exact opposite to Buddhism - they aim to increase the amount of suffering in the world as much as possible...

It seems like conservatives believe that the only way to reduce their own suffering is to make someone else suffer more. Where does this zero sum idea come from? I find it completely alien and difficult to comprehend...

“When it detects a user may be under 18, Google will notify them that it has changed some of their settings and will offer information about how users can verify their age with a selfie, credit card, or government ID.”

This will definitely not be used to get a massive amount of face and ID data from users who get misclassified as underage due to "glitches" and suddenly locked out from their Gmail accounts or Android phones. Nope, no sirree, that will never happen at all, Google wouldn't do such an unethical and evil thing!

I was half expecting a "deal" along the lines of "all Ukrainians fuck off somewhere else and don't ever come back, and me and my ~~boss~~ pal Vlad are going to turn Ukraine into a luxury riviera" - this shit is pretty close...

Edit: I found the culprit! It is an app I've been using for years called "Notification Toggle" that has sadly been abandoned, and that seems to have a bug on Android 14 where it's icon will be stuck at 1 instead of showing the current date. I completely forgot it even had this function, because it was a default on all my phones for a looooooing time without me ever opening it or fiddling with the settings. Sad to see it abandoned, with no hope of getting this bug fixed, but what can I do...

I switched phones recently, and am very satisfied with my Xperia, but there's this one useless icon in the taskbar that annoys me a bit and that is like to hide, but I can't identify it, could someone help?

I tried SystemUI tuner, but it doesn't list it as one you can blacklist in the list of toggles, and I don't know how to find it's key to add it as a custom one. Tried turning off calendar notifications, but that's not it - it still shows. Does anyone know what it is and how to hide it? It's a minor annoyance to be sure, but it's completely useless, and I'd like it gone if possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

The one with dark, shiny leaves is Alocasia Cuprea, and the one with pretty stems is Alocasia Zebrina. I do hope they like their new home - had a bit of mixed luck with Alocasias in the past...
