Yeah, no I think you are spot on in that last sentence. We, as viewers, enthusiasts and consumers can only vote with our wallets. I have spent a lot more effort trying to bring people to independent showing and movies that aren't the highest grossing/budget films.

But while that may be true, I definitely also went and saw Oppenheimer, Barbie and across the spider-verse.

But I think the whale, tar, Banshees of Inisherin, everything everywhere all at once, triangle of Sadness - all did fairly well at the movies, and despite being far from low budget indiemovies, I think that gives me a lot of confidence that cinema is alive and thriving!

While I don't disagree on the main points of your post, I'd like to counter by saying I think we are back on the rise. We see eastern movies more frequently make it to our cinemas (at least where I live), and a decline in interest when it comes to superhero stuff. We had a Norwegian movie outsell Aquaman the past weekend and that's wild. (I know, Aquaman isn't at the top of people's hype-list).

I myself also decided to make the choice to go and see more indepent films, attend screenings/festivals in my city and stop going to the marvel shows. It's been a blast and I'm loving going to the movies more than ever as a result!

The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. Sure it has its flaws and definite issues, but they've also hit a perfect mid of systems to manage (food, temps, disease etc) where it makes sense and it's not too overbearing. They've also included a hefty amount of welcome QoL changes.

Still, I can't craft bulk cloth at once etc and some of those things irk me. The procedural (?) generation is a bit repetitive and mob spawns are a complete mess

Been playing Return to Moria with a friend and we're having a blast! Got to do a few games of The Finals playtest and that was great fun.

Also got to test a few games of CS2 and actually enjoyed that more than expected as well.

Yeah that would be my tip. Once the seasons end in these games, they are transferred over to become non-seasonal characers so nothing is lost.

But that can be a solution for the next one! d3 is such a fun game

This is Wes Anderson in top for, it's a really fun watch!

That is very reassuring, and thanks for the big writeup! I'll definitely continue to the next one, so thank you!

It's not so much the tone of Hobb books thst gets to me, it's just the arduous pacing. I don't think I've ever encountered anything that goes this slow before.

Yeah, I quite enjoyed Stormfront. It feels weird with the absolute need to write about the breasts and looks of every woman in the book, and it makes it feel fairly shallow. But there's something that feels like it will become a really good series in there too, so I'm inclined to try a few more.

It might not stay with the quaint forever.

However I had a lot of fun reading the "Mage Errant" books! It's a progression Fantasy (comparable genre with shounen anime) that follows a group of students at a magic school as they grow into their powers as they attempt to become strong magic wielders.

I find the book to not only not be bigoted, but be delightfully inclusive in so many aspects, it also includes characters dealing with trauma in a positive way.

I blazed through this 7 book series like popcorn.

Other than that, there are many good suggestions here!

Just finished the first book in Dresden Files. Now I'm back into Robin Hobbs assassin's apprentice book two. I forgot the name of it because this series is nothing but a slog so far.

I changed my reddit link to lemmy but kept the snoo symbol.

I don't really visit too much, I will sweep by a few times a week or so. Reddit I only go to when Google takes me there, which is often enough thst I had to install the official turd of an app.

But I do t have a user over there anymore, so I am not logged in.
