Thanks, it's really comforting to know that I could've been participating in exploitation of workers and sellers myself. Monopolized markets are working, guys!

I think it's more complicated. Frome top of my head, the company who sells them makes more money from servicing them than from sales. And they use arguably predatory practices to make 3rd party service impossible. Jet there is some ownership overlap, so there are some shady incentives to allways choose this sub-obtimal contractor. Something like that.

I bet it is. There was a playboy "I buy it for the articles!" excuse. Argubly, it had a good articles. But srgument lands flat due to what they choose to put on the covers. I'm making fun about what they choose to put on the thumbnail.

If one day I want to work in place that share my distrust to cetralized tech monopolies, where should I be? How to build my connections?

This always bother me. Never in my life encounterd a broken McFlurry machine. They bring too much.money to it happen. I suspect it's another US-specyfic "there is a weird systemic reson behind it, but we'll just accept is as fact of life" kind of problem.

That's a good point, actually. When people are asking you to stop with "just go for a walk or exercise" it is not because it has no chance of working. It may be very effective for some people. But seriously, how likely is that this struggling adult person raised in the same culture as you with similar knowledge-base as yours didn't hear about the concept of going outside? Your insights are not that insightful.

And yes, it applies to parenting advice as well, Karen.
