it seems like you didn't quite get the responses you were hoping for.

i appreciate your questioning and attempt to reframe the JFK speech in a modern context. it makes sense to me that he might have been speaking about some underground conspiracy which is still in operation today.

well done. best philosophical/psychological post in the thread.

i find life so unsatisfying that if, when i die, the afterlife has any resemblance AT ALL to this current reality, i am going to be fucking pissed.

like, any version of occupying a physical body in some sort of 3-dimensional space and surrounded by other physical beings is just, so.... ugh.

i am over it.

i have decided to call in the morning and find out what their scheduling looks like for the next couple of months, and also what prescribing looks like if we want to go that route.

those two pieces of information, and also simply making contact, will help me get my mind right about it.

this is excellent advice. my immediate response to it is, of course, to cringe and shy away. but i admit that a bit of journaling would raise my confidence level a lot.

i feel this so much.

i have a referral on the table to begin sessions with a new therapist and have been putting off making the appointment because of the tedium of "getting it all out there" only to find out months from now that (for whatever reason) it was a wasted effort.

i honestly don't know what progress would look like. does it make sense for me to get my expectations in order before making the appointment?... or should i just jump in?

this is not a federal issue.

like, how can this EO have any effect on your local community softball league?

you are describing "chemical dependence".

addiction is more than that.

genuinely great answer. thanks.

agreed. the quips are a little too quippy, which is weird because they are all so well written and delivered and the pacing is natural. so it ends up with me wondering why i am lacking these type of interaction in my own life.

i sent this text to my family group chat (which includes my father). my dad is a poverty MAGA with a wild fantasy about how to better enjoy his retirement.

as a self professed techno snob, i expected that to be garbage and instead it was accurate and enjoyable. thanks!

in my mid-life adulthood, it has been a major revelation for me to discover that my most enduring personality trait is that i will always seek to end any interaction as quickly as possible, with as little damage as possible.

for my entire life, as soon as i can get get out, i do get out.

.... is not worth arguing with these particular assholes on this particular website. but, geeez.

images taken with specialized photography of the first few micro-seconds of a nuclear blast.

i am too lazy and grumpy today to find more relevant info for you (sorry). but these are sitting on my drive and it feels like the right day to post them up.

have a great weekend everyone!

this is where my brand-new unwrapped xfinity modem will live, unused, forever.

i recently did some deep cleaning and found the (two years) old modem sitting in a closet. unused because i am perfectly satisfied logging into the xfinity hotspot broadcast from my neighbors and there is no co-ax outlet in my place.

i considered just tossing the thing into the trash, but decided to be a responsible consumer.

after returning the old device to the xfinity store and subsequently discovering that my hotspot access was turned off, i got to take repeat train ride into the city to pick up a new device. it turns out that even though my account is in good standing, a physical device is required to be attached to my account in order to maintain hotspot access.

should i have just tossed the old one? should i just toss this one?
