Iran which was tolerable to media a few months ago

Why are people upvoting you when you're wrong?

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 9 points 2 days ago

Agreed.

I give preference to Iranian civilians because it's a lot harder for them to relocate than it is for Israelis.

Yeah, this is why I'm not on Iran's side.

I still want them to hurt Israel as much as possible. My heart goes out to the innocent people of Iran.

You, for example, are a citizen who I would not trust to make better decisions than what went into the Bill of Rights.

You're not alone, either. Most people I come across I wouldn't trust to make better decisions.

I'm going to ignore you now. People like you are insufferable and I know you can't resist another insufferable response.

Goodbye, and good luck.

It's fine if you think this, but I don't agree with any of it.

It's good that the constitution is old and remains relevant because it can protect us from the hysteria of the times.

For example, a lot of morons have convinced themselves that the first amendment is a bad thing. I would hate for this 'new document' of yours to be made without protections for freedom of speech.

The issues preventing us from making amendments would still be present trying to create a brand new constitution. I wouldn't trust the current government, or most of its citizens, to make better decisions than what we have in the Bill of Rights.

Not really.

You can make your own instance and moderate it better. You can split up power however you want.

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 3 points 2 days ago

The alternative would be taking away power from instance owners, which is its own form of abuse.

The only 'problem' here is that most communities are proud to abuse their power when it suits them.

The solution is to make more communities that do not abuse their power. Unfortunately, people are afraid to do that because the abusive instances with threaten to "defederate" from instances that do not share the same agendas.

Don't respect lemmy mods or their decisions.

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 7 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Agreed.

Lemmy has the potential to have less mod abuse, but we need communities that don't engage in it.

Right now most mods will abuse power whenever it's convenient or preferable to them.

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 7 points 2 days ago

It's a common trend among these communities.

Just call whoever you disagree with a troll, then you don't have to argue and mods can censor them.

Sorry for getting rough with you, but we need to stop giving this bullshit a pass.

It's time to admit we were wrong. I've done it and so can you.
