did librewolf change it from ddg???

[–] lopar49@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Out of all of the three, I would say startpage is the cleanest. DDG has had a fair few controversies https://techrights.org/o/2020/07/02/ddg-privacy-abuser-in-disguise/ . So I think they are off the list atm, I may consider brave search but I'm not sure.

what do you main?

[–] lopar49@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

I do like DDG, but it feels like its getting more bloated, furthermore I would prefer a EU based service rather than an american one. sorry but this might put you off ddg https://techrights.org/o/2020/07/02/ddg-privacy-abuser-in-disguise/

how to find a good searxng instance, as all the ones i have found are rubbish (self hosting isnt an option.)

[–] lopar49@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Qwant has some reasonable privacy concerns its self as it sends your ip and stuff etc to microsoft.

[–] lopar49@lemm.ee 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I thought self hosting a searxng instance was like really bad due to you being the only user on it?

I have a feeling all these new duck products are going to get slapped with the fattest paywall once they want to turn these products into actual money making products. I’m talking about duck.ai aswell, mainly because if something seems to good to be true, it likely is

I would recommend simplelogin more as it is owned by proton, a trusted private company
