an accumulation of upvotes won't make your account more powerful, gaining access to karma-locked communities. it won't make it more valuable, to be sold in a market.
karma simply doesn't exist here, and if you think a comment doesn't deserve to be upvoted, don't upvote it.
to be clear, there is no karma, or even an equivalent.

it did get activitypub support. but it was also a haven for csam, and a lot of the instances were shut down.
