I used Read You from f-droid app-store and was happy with it. No commercials and FOSS. Switched to Nextcloud News for centralized RSS feeds from my Nextcloud.
Used Joplin and was quite OK. But ended up going back to nvim markdown and third party sync. More generic and works everywhere.
XMPP / Jabber. Because: Open Source, organization behind it, old and battle tested, possible to selfhost, lots of clients on all platforms, end-to-end encryption.
Duplicati to Hetzner storage. Working on replacing duplaicati with Borg. Because mono.

Looks nice!
My Pentium 120 MhZ playing Duke Nukem, Quake, Diablo, Red Alert. All my friends had 133 MhZ so was the underdog at LAN meetups 🙂
+1 light and fast
We use Teams and friends at work, so I know the struggle.
