You realize they own Bell Labs, the organization that humanity owes the information age to, right?

[–] theamigan@lemmy.dynatron.me 6 points 11 months ago

Or, y'know, Nokia Bell Labs.

You should report him. Everyone who knows someone with the motive and the means should. You can have guns, or your head filled with caustic bile, but not both.

This is quite fair, and I agree. I just hear far too often people rejecting running scripts out of hand because sOmEoNe sAiD pIpE iT tO tHe sHeLL. Usually such scripts are just using the package manager anyway.

You...can just download the script and inspect it yourself before running. This cargo cult "security" advice needs to stop.

What about ed? Or TECO?

I said "HMC" because that is the name of the company. Hyundai is just one of their makes. And I don't really read any auto forums. I'm not sure how you thought you had me sized up.

Hyundai Motor Company.

Garbage cars. My stepmother's Kia has had no fewer than two admonitions not to park the thing inside due to possible spontaneous combustion, even while off. My sister-in-law's Hyundai received a software update that uses the acoustic knock sensor to sense when catastrophic journal failure is imminent. This was after her previous Hyundai which went through two motors, each failing at the exact same mileage in the same mode.

Another ~~day~~hour, another HMC shitbox recalled.

Yeah, Conversations is probably the most fleshed out. Dino is missing lots of features, as is Monal for osx. Gajim is very nice, but it's written in Python. Psi used to be my favorite 10 years ago but it's unmaintained.

I just want something more on feature parity with all the Slack clones, but not actually Slack. Or mattermost. Or matrix. Goddamn, there are so many messaging apps
