I have been reading the manga of this one and it is exceedingly silly and lots of fun. Don't get too attached to any characters that aren't in this visual though. It's kind of a running joke with the scanlator that basically any character that shows up outside the main cast ends up dead. Sometimes they only show up for a single panel in the manga and then they are offscreened.

Premieres April 10th. The new PV is here. Check out the ANN article for additional information. Synopsis from AniList:

A naive ninja ran away from her remote village and meets a high school girl assassin!

The start of an unpredictable life together between ninja x assassin.

An alien, Mumu, who came to regain the technology lost by his race. The everyday life of an ordinary college student collapses because of his arrival...? A cat shakes the earth! Spectacular romance!!

Deserved win for Apothecary Diaries which was great last episode. I was surprised to see Re:Zero drop so far. I am not watching it, but it seems to have been received well this season.

I have read what is available on Mangadex for this series and enjoyed it a lot. I am looking forward to watching this one in the Spring season. Also, just for fun, since this visual shows the two sides of Ririsa in the anime, here they are as represented in the manga:

Lady Rocker

Premieres April 2025. The new PV is here. Check out the ANN article for additional information. Synopsis from AniList:

Ririsa Suzunomiya, who is forced to live a cramped life at a girl's school where genuine ladies gather, is drawn to the sounds coming from the old school building...? The gorgeous and ladylike girls shout with beautiful sparks!

Premieres April 6th. The new PV is here. Check out the ANN article for additional information. Synopsis from AniList:

The anime's story, set in Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture, is about the coming-of-age story of five high school girls. First year high school student Yuina Akagi lives an ordinary but unsatisfying everyday life. One day, a mysterious frog named Keroppe scouts her and four other girls to become the "Maebashi Witches." Suddenly, a room closet is connected to a mysterious space that brings the girls to a magical flower shop where they sing, dance, and make other people's wishes come true.

I think that the premiere is probably pretty far out yet. I remember reading before that an average season of anime takes roughly 3 years to make when starting from scratch (not continuing a series). So, it could be some time yet.

Though, if you are only doing your coloring with green, maybe it's faster? /s

I have read a bit of this manga but ended up dropping it. The story and characters were just too generic to hold my attention. If the synopsis sounds similar to something else you have read/watched, that's because it probably is.

Premieres July 2025. The new PV is here. Check out the Crunchyroll article for additional information. Synopsis from AniList:

One day, Lloyd, a white mage, is banished from the hero’s party. Lloyd, who has lost his job, happens to accompany an S-rank party on a quest by chance. At that time, no one knew that the hero’s party would collapse and Lloyd would gain fame - yet. This is the story of an extraordinary support magic-user who thinks he is normal, becomes an adventurer, while he is unaware how he eventually becomes peerless.

This is not an official announcement yet, but pictures came out showing that Volume 3 of the manga announces an anime adaptation on the cover. It is official enough that ANN covered it, so I thought it was worth sharing here. Synopsis of the source manga from AniList:

Fashionable and upbeat high schooler Aya falls head over heels for an employee at a local CD shop. He's got an air of mystery about him, great style, and an impeccable music taste. Little does she know—this supposedly male employee is actually her female classmate Mitsuki! Mitsuki generally keeps to herself, but since her seat is right next to Aya's, she can't help but be extremely aware of the other's crush. Revealing the truth is out of the question for Mitsuki—but perhaps getting closer to Aya wouldn't be so bad...

From the article:

A deepwater fish new to science has been named after San, the warrior princess from Studio Ghibli's landmark animated film Princess Mononoke, due to its striking facial markings.

The new species, Branchiostegus sanae, was identified by Chinese researchers after they noticed its unique cheek stripes.

Inspired by its resemblance to San, they chose "sanae" for the specific name as a tribute.

Lead author of the study Haochen Huang said: "In Princess Mononoke, San is a young woman raised by wolves after being abandoned by her human parents. She sees herself as a part of the forest and fights to protect it.

"The film delves into the complex relationship between humans and nature, promoting a message of harmonious coexistence between the two: something we hope to echo through this naming."

Hey, I'm back online. I am not fully caught up on shows from this past week, but here are some thoughts on the past week of anime:

  • 100 Girlfriends - This past week's baseball game was incredible. Iku as played by Takahashi Rie is a lot of fun.
  • Welcome to Japan, Miss Elf - Such a nice, comforting show. This has become my feel-good show of the season.
  • Bureaucrat to Villainess - I think they have struck a better balance between the two POVs this episode. Still really enjoying this.
  • My Happy Marriage - I've been really enjoying this season. I am hoping they can keep it going through the rest of the season.

Premieres April 6, 2025. The new PV is here. Check out the ANN article for additional information. Synopsis from AniList:

Morihito Otogi, a high school student who comes from a lineage of ogres, enjoys a peaceful, ordinary life until his childhood friend, Nico, moves in with him. Nico is a witch-in-training, and chooses Morihito to be her familiar. While Nico is thrilled to reunite with her old friend and crush, Morihito is tasked with the perilous duty to protect her from a foretold calamity. Between the unpredictable chaos caused by Nico’s magic, and the awkwardness of sharing a home, their lives become a whirlwind of supernatural hijinks and threats.

I'm in the Boston area. We had a very icy and windy day yesterday, the perfect weather to blow some heavily laden trees into power lines.

Thanks to some winter weather, I lost power and am on mobile atm, so thanks for filling in. I should be back soon!

I loved Bocchi, but if I was given the choice of directing either Frieren S2 or Bocchi S2, it's not that difficult to choose. I feel like the first season had a great ending, so it will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

This is about as far as I got into reading the manga and I have really enjoyed this adaptation. It's so cozy, perfect thing to cap off a work week with. Looking forward to see where it goes from here.

Definitely. Here is the official character visual for Flamme and you can see that the braid is tied off the same way.
