Yeah, he has the political experience to know when to throw his party under the bus. My mom has been voting Democrat for 40 years, somehow that CR vote is what convinced her to go 3rd party next election. Only someone with that much political experience could have pulled that off.

I think it's the other way around. The executive branch has signaled it will ignore the courts. If SCOTUS makes a ruling that Trump would later ignore, then the public perception will be that the courts have no power. If they go along with Trump, they at least get to preserve the facade.
