Porn is unhealthy.
No
Yes
So, I went ahead and looked up the founder of your little website there... None of his theories were ever backed up by any legitimate science and according to his bio he refused to allow himself to have an orgasm even when he had sex with his wife lol
If anything the link you shared has convinced me even more that pornography is healthy and perfectly normal when used in moderation.
Gary Wilson was mentally ill and all of his theories seem to be centered around a bizarre delusion he had that men should never experience pleasure
There is literally a big button on the menu called "Research". Clicking it leads to several scientific articles. One of which is:
A Meta‐Analysis of Pornography Consumption and Actual Acts of Sexual Aggression in General Population Studies (2015)
From the abstract:
Oh, and here is more.
So the science that is referenced is illegitimate, because why, it disagrees with your inverted desires?
Furthermore, in the book, he cites multiple anecdotes from porn consumers. These are valuable in and of themselves.
See, this is how I know you are disingenuous. Not only did you ignore the plentiful resources that the website I linked to had to offer, but you also went straight to attacking the person (originally) behind the site and straw-manning him.
It's a drug. The "use in moderation" argument is going out the window.
I don't really have an opinion on this but I'm just gonna say that about that association between porn consumption and aggression, it doesn't seem like they've found a casual relationship, just a correlation. Could be that people who are inclined to sexual aggression (or verbal aggression, as they say in the abstract is more strongly associated) are just more likely to consume porn.
Blud actually pulled Correlation doesn't imply causation out.
Look, you are right.
It is a red flag though. And as I pointed out to him, there are many anecdotes speaking of porn causing harm. He ignored all the red flags and went with the usual line of "it's perfectly normal in moderation", which I'm arguing is the wrong attitude to have given the issues that many people have from porn (or in proximity to porn).
I don't have the patience right now to analyze the meta-analysis, but many times they're really not conducted properly, and can be heavily biased. Even without the authors seeing it.
Edit: it's even behind a paywall. I'm not using my institution login for that crap.
You are living proof that his theory that porn rots your brain is true.
I've always thought that porn was good lol I was just making a point about the very silly website they sent me to.
You guys seem to be rather obsessed about it though, which should be a cause for concern.
It's not good to obsess over anything 😉
?
They shouldn't have used that "one crazy guy" as an argument that porn is bad then.
