Yeah, that sounds good to me. Although honestly I think more term limits can only improve things. Maybe just 1 term for everything max.
Think about AOC first term, very popular with her base. She got a lot of media attention because republicans hated her. Young hot smart and totally lefty. Couple terms in congress and she is reformed a bit in messaging. She understands procedure better, and she's eligible for important roles in comittees. In this time she's gained my support as a centrist.
I think this is what the party needs to be doing more. We bring in fresh blood, we help them grow as politicians and we don't strangle their visions and constituents because we don't agree with them. Let the people decide. But it takes time for AOC to gain my favor. It's a trust thing, her words and her action, following her over 4-8 years makes you feel better about sending them back for 4 more.
After 20 years ya curb em, but some of the best politicians and policies are worth fostering and need leadership that can last multiple political cycles.
Iono, from the somewhat-outside (I'm a bit more lefty than the Democratic party) perspective, I disagree, because it kind of seems like what happened is AOC talked a big game, got some press on some more progressive ideas, and then got 'deradicalized' I guess is the word? back to the centrist norm of the party. Now I barely hear about her because she's (to my understanding, but I haven't been following her very closely) just like all the other democrats in office instead of being the idealist firebrand she once was. That feels like a solid loss for her constituents in my book, but.. shrug that's just, like, my opinion, man.
I'm definitely with you that the party needs some fresh blood though, the vampires in charge have long overstayed their tenure.
