Justin Trudeau is not the leader of the Liberal party of Canada and a Canadian would know that.
Oh come on, don't be so pedantic. He was their leader up until a couple of months ago.
Nonetheless, he said what he said and twisted the meaning of zionism to fit his narrative. They've also authorized sending money and military equipment to Israël while they were committing their genocide.
The real question is, do you honestly think this policy is going to stop with Carney at the helm?
I personally don't think so.
Meanwhile, the NDP has pushed for the recognition of Palestinian stetehood and have not been scared to call what Israël is doing a Genocide and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Well, they didn't say you're not Canadian. They simply chided you on not being explicit. It's important because Trudeau hadn't been popular for more than a year, so his opinion certainly isn't that of the Liberal Party.
But saying "a Canadian would know that" is necessarily insinuating that they are not Canadian for not knowing a fact. Which regardless of if the person did know the fact, is a ridiculous criterion to determine if someone is Canadian.
Furthermore, to suggest that Trudeau's views aren't synonymous with the Liberal party, ignores a big part of reality. That the party leaders wield incredible amounts of influence within their parties. If anything, party leaders are perhaps the physical embodiment of a party.
He's insinuating that I'm not Canadian. And to me, that's insulting.
Let it go Elsa, he isn't PM anymore.
I also vote exclusively NDP and have for over 15 years. Go bark at someone else about the geopolitics you do not at all understand.
How about you change your fucking attitude and stop making this community a toxic environment. I've seen your comment history. If anyone is barking at people it's you. You gratuitously insult people and are condescending to everybody.
People are tired of your shit and we can see that by how many downvotes you get.
Get off Lemmy for a while and go touch some fucking grass. Especially now that spring is here it shouldn't be too hard.
And for the record, I'm a NDP voter and supporter myself, so I don't know why you're so fucking upset.
Thanks for ruining my fucking mood and the whole mood of /c/Canada

Projection.
That's rich coming from you.
Says the one who thinks Trudeau is still relevant to any discussion about Canadian Politics.
It would be sad if I didn't find it so funny. Especially the part where you cared more about my down votes than I do.
Say "I am chronically online, without..." amiright?!
Seriously though. Why are you so god damn mean to people all the time? Half your comments are gratuitous insults and just mean comments out of nowhere, wrongly assuming people are conservatives, insinuating and accusing people of all kinds of insane bullshit. You should follow your own advice and "let it go" ffs. Your attitude is incredibly toxic as I've already said. You're bringing absolutely nothing of value to this community other than upsetting people for nothing.
PROJECTION!
