AOC has it all. She's progressive, well educated, from a humble background, intelligent and good looking. I am rooting for her but I don't expect the Democratic Party to have a fair primary for that Senate seat.
I've never voted for anyone because the are considered "good looking". What a shallow approach to politics.
Yes. It's an incredibly shallow approach to politics. Humans are shallow.
Humans are shallow
Politicians are human
Politics are shallow
Can confirm, am human
Was nodding along until you commented on a politician’s appearance….
JFK has entered the chat.
In the first televised presidential debate in 1960, radio listeners said that Nixon won, but TV viewers thought he looked thin and sallow compared to Kennedy's youthful vigor and gave JFK the edge.
Appearance has played a big role in politics ever since.
Unless you haven't lived in the real world, you'd know that -like it or not- looks also matter, and right now we need all the matter we can get
It matters more for a women, men are allowed to be ugly.
It matters for men too, though I'll agree it matters more for women
I'm not saying this is a good thing, I'm saying this is how it is because it's how humans are wired. Like it or not, subconsciously you'll like pretty people better
[Ted Cruz enters chat…] not always.
I think they meant that in the sense that charisma is a practical tool to get elected and to get your message across, not that they want to see more hotties on CSPAN.
Like the other reply said, it’s unfortunate that it’s a significant factor, but here it is.
It's the unfortunate reality in American politics, especially for someone from a minority group
Or any woman
yeah MTG is really struggling.
“Look at this one example, that means bigotry no longer exists!”
Sarah Sanders too. I can fund a few more. I am not saying Republicans are not sexiest
