I love that consumers might be causing financial pain to big corporations, however:

Target, Walmart, and Amazon have always engaged in practices that harm individuals of every color and creed. The fact that DEI has become the impetus for these boycotts is evidence of the extent to which republicans still control the narrative. Liberal media sources follow right in step and whip their audiences into a fervor as well.

In reality, these companies directly exploit workers all the way down the supply line and up to the point of retail. We’re supposed to be mad that a small portion of those being exploited won’t be as diverse? That really sounds an awful lot like some neolib right-to-work shit.

Amazon in particular. We all should have absolutely buried Amazon years ago. Better late than never, but getting rid of DEI is not even in the top 100 horrible things Amazon has done.

Amazon in particular. We all should have absolutely buried Amazon years ago. Better late than never, but getting rid of DEI is not even in the top 100 horrible things Amazon has done.

I'm probably going to get shit on for this, but I've always supported Amazon until last couple years for one big reason, it gave competition to Walmart. Amazon's union busting practices were learned from the Walton masters, those of y'all who remember Walmart having butchers? The reason they're gone is they unionized and Walmart got rid of them. Walmart will invade a town, bullying them to build their store without having to pay for utilities or they'll move to the next down over, run that store at a loss until all competition is gone then if it's too small a town they'll close it down forcing people to go to the central hub. They have training for employees to get food stamps while actively avoiding letting people work full time to avoid giving benefits... things they've been doing since Amazon was a bookstore in a garage.

And if you're against Project 2025, the Walton Family was one of the three that proudly donates to the Heritage Foundation.

I am here to go against any of these big corporations and Amazon is number 2 on the list, both need to go down. But as someone who used to live in its hometown I'm just consistently baffled that Walmart is somehow teflon to the outright attempts to bring it down whereas Target and Amazon get them every time. If anyone wants to know on size of these companies, Walmart is number 1 company by revenue, Amazon is number 2. The next 4 companies are State owned by China or Saudi Arabia, and 7th had a CEO Luigi'd.

This would be the best time to boycott these companies with the tariffs going on they will be hit doubly hard.

Anytime people decide to do something good there are always people who shit on it and say it's not enough.

Because it isn't enough.

Still, the best time to boycott them was years ago. The second best time is now

I agree that the whole DEI issue arose from republicans controlling the narrative, but things have now moved beyond that.

The question now isn't "these companies have always been evil so why focus on DEI?", the question is "this is where we are--whose side are you on"? IOW one's stance on DEI has become a proxy for who you stand with--the oligarchs or the people.

Businesses/oligarchs getting rid of their DEI policies are doing it to prove to trump, and us as well, that they have now fully joined with him to destroy democracy and form the Oligarchy (along with the christian nationalist faction but that's another topic).

So it's a symbolic action (among others) they are taking to demonstrate that they are now part of the trump regime and consider themselves to be our rulers. Therefore these boycotts of their businesses is our symbolic action that we do not accept them as our overlords and will oppose them.
