I like Bernie, but no fucking way should you elect someone that old AGAIN. He can create a great platform for AOC, but even he knows it's time for the younger crowd to get a voice.
Wouldn't it be nice to not have a president who is very likely to die from a harsh cough for once?
That is why AOC is there on the ticket. VPs exist to take over if the president kicks the bucket.
Bluntly, we need good people in office. While I definitely support reforms to force age and term limits on our politicians, that can only happen if good people are willing to change the system. The system is currently run by corrupt and fossilized politicians who won't permit change. Getting good people into office is required for positive change.
This takes time, one where a Bernie-AOC presidency can enable. Bernie and AOC, unlike the likes of Pelosi, will allow younger and progressive people to take leadership roles throughout government. It will take at least 10 years to replace the old guard - a two term progressive presidency just isn't enough for that sort of generational shift.
If Bernie is to be elected in 2028 he'll be 91 by the end of his term. If he continues in 2032, he'll be 95. That is far too fucking old to be a politician. I know his view is what USA needs and has needed for a long time, but it's far too little too late. The window for Bernie to be president was 2016, and the american people and the democratic party fucked that up. It's time to move on.
Instead you do exactly what they're doing now. Bernie uses his influence with the people to give AOC a platform to make her his protege for 2028. He's currently putting her out there as a voice of reason, and passing the torch to her.
It's neat how age is no longer just a number now that biden isn't running anymore.
It's neat how you assume I didn't hate how fucking old Biden was either?
That wasn't my biggest issue with Biden though. My issue with Biden was that he was part of the systemic issue that's been destroying the US democracy for decades. He didn't mind corporations bribing the politicians. He didn't mind people indepting themselves for the rest of their lives just to get an education. He didn't mind the gab between the richest and the poorest. He didn't mind going to war to serve the military industrial complex. Biden is what I would refer to as a corrupt asshole by european standards, who doesn't give half a shit about the working class, only the interests of his rich masters.
So kindly stop assuming anyone who doesn't support Trump, supports Biden or Harris. They're part of the same corrupt system, designed specifically to supress the working class, and they fucking love it.
I'm not. I'm assuming anyone who makes excuses for why progressives can't run supports either trump, biden or harris.
I'm not saying progressives can't run. I'm saying we need progressives who aren't dead halfway through their presidency. i am absolutely saying AOC should run.
Oh yeah, other people are saying that AOC shouldn't run because she's a woman and women suddenly can't win. They're saying it in this very thread. You should tell them they're wrong.
