Ive told this story before so heres the short version. In high school I had a part time job at a dinner and some Kristian Karen Klub came in and tipped with these fake bills. It had the church name on it, which happened to be on my way to school so the next day I just went and shoved them in their donation box.

That looks like a 2015 youtube prank 😂😭

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 44 points 2 weeks ago

It’s super funny to boomers who never had to live off tips.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

They've been tipping those for a very long time. I remember the first one I received was disguised as a $100 bill well before YouTube was a thing. Even almost 30 years ago we fought over who would work on Sundays because they would abuse 16 year old buffet workers back in '98.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

This would make me want to communicate nonverbally with said diner's neck.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 5 points 2 weeks ago

Ah yes because famously the good samaritan paid the innkeeper with fake money. (Not that I expect most self described christians to know any of their bible stories with any accuracy or detail)

[–] Hyphlosion@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

Okay. That’s just mean.

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Never seen one in person but I would certainly spit in anyone’s face if I ever did see someone leave one.

No reasonable jury would convict a person who presented that note as part of their defense in a murder trial.

[–] ddash@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Not a single person handing these out has actually ever the read the bible. Calling it.

[–] myrrh@ttrpg.network 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

...they read select verses which are spoon-fed their bible-study curriculum...

[–] oo1@lemmings.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Like Exodus 21:20-21?

[–] AstridWipenaugh@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Don't blame this on Americans in general. This is a small group of religious cunts doing this.

You're not wrong but also the only reason this is a real problem is because of American tipping culture

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

the problem is our bosses, and too many people too broken to stand up and fight them

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yes you're absolutely right, sorry
