and that was, in turn, based on a patent filed by mcdonalds for smart tvs to show ads you had to interact with. "say 'mcdonalds' to continue watching".

idk if that was technically part of it but the pictures in the application definitely had a person jump up and scream the name.

Edit: huh, it's not a mcdonalds patent at all, it's filed by sony: https://patents.google.com/patent/US8246454B2/en

but the picture definitely says mcdonalds

I was in a company town hall meeting where the C-level executives were making announcements and circle jerking each other with compliments on their success. At one point, the CEO was remarking how innovative they were pivoting the software from a standalone to a SaaS. Truly enlightened times to have such visionaries...
