What makes you think a lifetime of suffering is worth it? Some children and family sue medical practitioners for not disclosing genetic abnormalities that led to deleterious life which eats away not just their finances, but also their entire sense of fulfillment to live a less stressful life.

There are diseases that should be rid of, and there are one where it gets blurry and tantamount to genocide as you rightly pointed out. It is not up to me nor anyone really who should decide. Even ethicists can't settle on the topic.
