A new community has been created on:

On the original instance, there are plenty of comments on every post.

But on PieFed there are none:

Is there any way to retrieve the comments so they can show up on PieFed?

Copy paste the comments original links (the ones you can get from "View original on" with the Fediverse logo in the three dots menu) into the "Retrieve remote posts " feature from the Search page

Note: this is for past comments, future comments will federate now that there are 2 local subscribers

I tried "retrieve remote posts" with the following link: https://sh.itjust.works/post/41236182

But still only the post is there but not the comment? Am I doing it wrong?

Yes. It's not ideal, I just raised the lemmy-federate compatibility issue to the development channel, hopefully someone can work on that soon
