You make valid points, but I still disagree with the "dont stick your head out" opinion you originally espoused.
I also disagree that social media, especially mostly anonymous social media like lemmy, is anything like work or in public. Also hard disagree on "Keeping your head down to still have access to the resources of the community when you need them the most" part - there is no social currency here, no reputation built. We didnt import the social scoring system reddit had (karma) so nobody here has any more or less access to 'community resources' than anyone else.
Also, I don't think anyone gives a shit if they get banned. Beauty of the fediverse and having no reputation - you just make another account on another instance.
I haven't really found myself disagreeing much on lemmy, so do take all this with a grain of salt. Maybe if I did, then I would have a different view.
Fair enough.
